The Opportunity

This is a senior leadership opportunity to shape safety strategy, culture and performance across our growing Construction business in New South Wales.

Reporting directly to the General Manager and joining the NSW Senior Leadership Team, in your role of a Regional Safety Manager, you will influence business decisions, provide strategic direction, governance and operational leadership across a diverse portfolio of civil construction and infrastructure projects.

Working closely with senior operational and project leaders, you will strengthen critical risk management, improve safety performance and build leadership capability across the business. You will also partner with the National HSEQ Manager and Regional Safety Managers across Australia to develop, drive and embed national initiatives that lift performance across the broader business.

This is a highly influential role that combines strategic leadership with a strong connection to project delivery and frontline operations.

The role is based in Alexandria and requires travel across New South Wales, including overnight stays when required.

What you’ll be responsible for?

• Provide strategic leadership for health and safety across the NSW Construction business, driving a proactive safety culture and supporting operational excellence.

• Lead the development, implementation and continuous improvement of health and safety systems, standards, programs, and initiatives across the region and embed effective controls across the project portfolio.

• Partner with operational leaders to strengthen critical risk management.

• Use performance insights and emerging trends to identify priorities and drive targeted improvement.

• Lead incident investigations, and organisational learning initiatives to prevent recurrence and strengthen safety performance.

• Ensure compliance with legislative requirements, company standards and industry best practice through effective governance, audit, and assurance activities.

• Coach, mentor and influence leaders, the safety team, and employees at all levels to enhance safety leadership capability, support risk management and drive continuous improvement.
• Contribute. drive and embed national health and safety initiatives, campaigns, and systems.

What We're Looking For

You've successfully partnered with operational and project leaders to improve safety performance, strengthen critical risk management and build capability within teams in the industry. You understand the balance between maintaining robust governance and creating practical solutions that work in a live construction environment.

You'll bring strong knowledge of Work Health and Safety legislation, governance frameworks and contemporary safety practices, alongside experience leading incident investigations, driving organisational learning and supporting continuous improvement. Just as importantly, you'll be comfortable working alongside leaders at all levels, providing guidance, challenge and support when it matters most.

Your ability to build trusted relationships, influence decision-making and bring people on the journey will be key to your success. You'll be a visible and authentic leader who leads through collaboration, understands the realities of project delivery and is passionate about creating safer workplaces for our people.

A qualification in Work Health and Safety or a related discipline is essential.
