Recruiting Specialist

What you’ll do in this position:

Recruitment

  • Build and maintain strategic partnerships with hiring managers, HR Business Partners, and Compensation Partners.
  • Serve as a recruiting consultant and strategic partner to assigned campus departments throughout the recruitment and selection process.
  • Develop and implement recruiting strategies for assigned areas of campus based on hiring needs, applicant-pool challenges, labor-market conditions, and organizational priorities.
  • Proactively identify targeted recruiting needs and recommend approaches to address difficult-to-fill positions and challenges in attracting qualified candidates.
  • Independently recruit for hard-to-fill and specialized positions within assigned areas, utilizing appropriate sourcing strategies and consulting with senior recruiters or the Recruiting Manager when needed.
  • Evaluate job postings and applicant pools and provide recommendations to hiring managers regarding job content, sourcing strategies, selection approaches, and methods for attracting qualified candidates.

Application Screening

  • Consult with hiring managers and departments to establish appropriate, job-related screening criteria, consistent with recruiting best practices and applicable requirements.
  • Review and screen applications for assigned departments using established screening criteria, professional judgment and recruiting best practices.
  • Independently identify and address issues or concerns that arise during the application screening process and consult with HR Business Partners with necessary.
  • Evaluate screening approaches and recommend adjustments when applicant pools or screening results do not meet the needs of the hiring department.
  • Communicate screening results, applicant-pool observations, and recruiting recommendations to campus departments.
  • Prepare, send, and maintain recruiting correspondence and other communications with campus departments throughout the screening and recruitment process.

What qualifies you for this role:

Required

  • A firm commitment to the mission of BYU.
  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, business or a related field plus 4 years of relevant HR or recruiting experience OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in HR, business or a related field plus 2 or more years of professional recruiting experience.
  • Experience recruiting in a complex organization or higher education environment.
  • Experience using Workday Recruiting or another applicant tracking system.
  • SHRM Talent Acquisition Specialty Credential or other relevant recruiting certification.

Pay Grade: 53

Typical Starting Pay: $75,000 to $97,000

The actual compensation offered will take into consideration internal equity and may vary based on the candidate’s job-related experience, knowledge, skills, and other relevant factors. Candidates with very significant work-related experience may receive an offer higher than the posted typical range.
