Receptionist – Part-Time

Pay Range: $17.50–$18.00 per hour, based on experience

San Joaquin Nursing and Rehabilitation is seeking a friendly, dependable, and professional Part-Time Receptionist to join our team. As the first point of contact for residents, families, visitors, employees, and community partners, you will play an important role in creating a positive and welcoming experience.

This is a strictly clerical position located in the reception and administrative area. It does not include clinical involvement or resident-care duties of any kind.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Greet residents, families, visitors, vendors, and employees with a friendly and professional attitude.
  • Answer, screen, and direct incoming telephone calls.
  • Take accurate messages and forward calls to the appropriate person or department.
  • Check visitors in and direct or escort them to the appropriate destination.
  • Notify employees of visitor arrivals, appointments, and cancellations.
  • Maintain accurate visitor sign-in records.
  • Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail and prepare outgoing mail.
  • Schedule appointments and maintain meeting-room reservations.
  • Provide general administrative and clerical support.
  • Assist with copying, scanning, faxing, filing, and data entry.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming reception area.
  • Protect residents’ privacy and maintain the confidentiality of all protected health information.
  • Promptly report suspected or known confidentiality violations to the Administrator.
  • Perform additional clerical duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Previous receptionist, administrative, clerical, or customer-service experience preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office programs.
  • Experience using a multiline telephone system and standard office equipment preferred.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and customer-service skills.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality at all times.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and interruptions in a busy environment.
  • Dependable attendance and a positive, team-oriented attitude.
  • Flexibility to work assigned shifts, including weekends or holidays as needed.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to read and understand workplace policies, procedures, and business correspondence.
  • Ability to write professional messages, reports, and routine correspondence.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with residents, families, managers, employees, and visitors.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and follow written, verbal, diagrammed, or scheduled instructions.
  • Basic mathematical skills, including fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.

Physical Requirements

This position requires regular sitting, standing, walking, speaking, hearing, reading, and prolonged computer use. Frequent use of office equipment—including telephones, copiers, scanners, fax machines, and calculators—is required. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. No travel is required.
