Position Summary

The Racing Sr. Program Engineer manages complex engineering programs and continuous improvement projects to achieve Bridgestone Motorsports objectives, primarily in the IndyCar and Indy NXT series. This role requires technical mastery, drives project execution, and works closely with cross-functional teams to deliver results.  The Sr. Program Engineer influences key decisions, supports continuous improvement efforts, and communicates regularly with Race Tire Engineering Leadership and our Nashville Motorsports colleagues.  Extensive travel is required for this position, including weekend travel up to 15 weekends per year.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver on the planning and execution of complex tire engineering projects and programs.
  • Develop and implement project plans, schedules, and resource requirements.
  • Monitor project performance, identify risks, and take action to resolve issues and minimize delays.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that improve efficiency and performance.
  • Demonstrate technical mastery and support engineering standards, specifications, and best practices.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Communicate project status, challenges, and recommendations to leadership.
  • Support the selection of materials, equipment, suppliers, and other project resources as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related technical field.
  • Typically requires:
    • 4-6 years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree; OR
    • 2-3 years of relevant experience with a Master's degree,
    • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong project leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional projects and influence stakeholders.
  • Willingness to travel up to 15 weekends per year to race and test events.
