The R&D Principal Project Manager is responsible for driving new product development programs for hardware, consumable and software within the biotech industry. The Project Manager will manage key strategic program(s) and coordinate activities within the strategy and roadmap planning forums with senior stakeholders. You will work in a multi-skilled team and support the Protein Research Portfolio Manager as well as the Discovery & Medical Program Management Director.

This position reports to the Discovery & Medical Program Management Director and is part of the Discovery Project Management Office within Discovery R&D, located in Uppsala, Sweden and will be an on-site role.

What you will do:

• Directly manage key strategic projects/program using Waterfall and/or Agile project management methodology. Maintain a technical understanding of the job done by your team members in their area of expertise (mechanical, chemical, electrical; automation etc.). Define project planning using Visual Project Management and daily management.

• Build and maintain project plan incl budget, risk management plan, user-centric documentation, test plans etc

• Coach/mentor other project managers or project team members

• Support Protein Research portfolio manager in the Protein Research innovation portfolio management including consolidating and reporting of the relevant Innovation Growth KPIs, building materials for strategy, roadmap and resource planning

• Work within the PMO team towards continuous improvement of Innovation and Project Management tools and processes at both Business Unit and Operating Company level. Work in close collaboration with many departments and other project teams.

• Drive clear communication between key stakeholders at both Business Unit and Operating Company level. Ability to report project progress to leadership teams.

Who you are:

• Master’s degree in science or engineering field

• Track record of delivering new product development projects as the project manager (>10 years)

• Fluent in Waterfall project management methods incl key elements like scheduling, risk management, communication, cost tracking, change management, stakeholder management etc

• Managed cross-functional teams and system type projects (hardware, software, consumables)

• Experience in Life Sciences Industry

It would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:

• PhD Degree in Science or Engineering field

• People coaching/mentoring experience in Project Management or Science/Engineering fields

• Continuous improvement approach
