We are looking to hire a Quantum Control Designer to design, model and test high-fidelity quantum operations. Passionate about helping create technologies which can change the world? What You’ll Accomplish 

  • Design control methods for high-fidelity and fast quantum operations  
  • Contribute to the development of accurate physics models based on real hardware specifications 
  • Work with the hardware teams to implement new methods on our quantum devices 
  • Develop procedures for benchmarking quantum operations 
  • Analyse experimental results and compare them against theoretical predictions and models 

 

Requirements

The 3 Most Critical Attributes We’ll Use to Compare Candidates: 

  1. Experience in designing control methods for high-fidelity quantum operations 
  2. Strong background in the theory of light-matter interactions and modelling quantum dynamics in software 
  3. A proven track record of collaboration with experimental research groups and/or the quantum hardware industry 

 

Must-have Skills (in addition to the above):

  • Experience with circuit-level quantum noise models and benchmarking of quantum operations 
  • Proficient in writing scientific code, e.g. using Python 
  • PhD in quantum computing, quantum control or similar 
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with published results in the field of research. 
  • This role can be based in Hamburg or worked remotely, but you must be based in Germany for this position.

 

Nice-to-have Skills 

  • Experience with quantum gates in ion trap devices 
  • Qiskit
