We are currently seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join our commercial team on a major data centre project in Dublin.
This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career Quantity Surveyor to develop their commercial and project management skills while working alongside an experienced team on a large-scale data centre project.
The successful candidate will support the commercial team in managing costs, subcontractor packages, valuations, variations and other commercial activities throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities:
- Support the Senior Quantity Surveyors and commercial team with the management of subcontract packages.
- Assist with the preparation of tender documentation, work packages, budgets and procurement activities.
- Assist with the analysis and review of subcontractor tender returns.
- Support the preparation and administration of subcontractor documentation.
- Assist with monthly valuations, payments and cost reporting.
- Assist with the preparation and assessment of variations, claims and other commercial matters.
- Monitor project costs and maintain accurate commercial records.
- Assist with the preparation of cost/value and cash flow reports.
- Support the preparation and agreement of external valuations.
- Assist with subcontractor final accounts and commercial close-out.
- Liaise with subcontractors, clients, designers and internal project teams as required.
- Ensure commercial documentation is prepared accurately and in a timely manner.
- Identify potential commercial issues and escalate them to the Senior Quantity Surveyor where appropriate.
- Work collaboratively with the wider project team to support the successful delivery of the project.
- Develop knowledge of construction methods, measurement and commercial management.
Requirements
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics or a related discipline.
- 1-2 years’ relevant experience in Quantity Surveying or a construction environment.
- Strong interest in developing a career in Quantity Surveying and commercial management.
- Good understanding of construction processes and terminology.
- Good numerical, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with CostX, Buildsoft or similar software is advantageous but not essential.
- Data centre or main contractor experience is advantageous but not essential
