The Quality Engineering Co-op will support the Quality team in maintaining and improving product and process quality across manufacturing operations. This role provides hands-on experience in quality assurance, root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and regulatory compliance while working closely with cross-functional teams. The co-op will gain exposure to industry-standard quality tools and methodologies and contribute to initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support quality assurance activities by assisting in the development and execution of quality control plans, inspection procedures, and quality monitoring processes.
  • Participate in audits and inspections of manufacturing processes and finished products to ensure compliance with quality standards and customer requirements.
  • Assist in investigating customer-reported quality concerns and nonconformances, utilizing problem-solving tools such as 5 Whys, Fishbone Diagrams, and Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
  • Support the implementation, tracking, and verification of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to address root causes and prevent recurrence.
  • Collect, analyze, and interpret quality data to identify trends, process deviations, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Apply statistical methods to evaluate process capability, product performance, and overall quality effectiveness.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of inspections, nonconformances, corrective actions, and other quality records.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, and quality metrics for internal reviews, management updates, and customer communications.
  • Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and other cross-functional teams to improve processes, reduce defects, and enhance product quality.
  • Participate in Lean, Six Sigma, and other continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational excellence.
  • Support compliance with ISO 9001:2015 requirements, customer specifications, and internal quality procedures.
  • Assist with internal audits and help prepare the organization for external audits and regulatory assessments.
  • Attend training sessions on quality systems, industry standards, and company procedures while developing technical and professional skills.
  • Shadow experienced quality professionals to gain practical knowledge of quality engineering principles, manufacturing processes, and problem-solving techniques.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Familiarity with quality tools, statistical analysis, Lean principles, or Six Sigma methodologies is preferred.
