Role Definition

The Integrated Drivetrain Energy Solutions (IDES) division is looking for a skilled Quality Engineer to provide quality engineering support through planning, validation, issue resolution, and process improvement activities. This position will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with quality requirements, support production readiness, and drive corrective and preventive actions to improve product and process performance at the.

 

What you will do

  • Execute APQP, PPAP, and product/process validation activities.
  • Investigate quality concerns and lead root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Review engineering drawings, control plans, PFMEAs, and inspection results for compliance.
  • Partner with manufacturing, design, supplier, and quality teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support supplier quality management, onboarding, and production readiness efforts.
  • Maintain quality documentation and support standard work and knowledge transfer activities.

 

Degree Requirement

  • Bachelor’s degree or appropriate equivalent experience desired.

 

What you must have (skills)

  • Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
  • Engineering - Manufacturing: Knowledge of processes, techniques and methods of engineering in a manufacturing environment; ability to design and implement materials, structures, machines, devices, systems and processes that safely realize a desired objective or invention.
  • Lean Manufacturing: Knowledge of the philosophy, principles and implementation approaches of lean manufacturing; ability to integrate and implement lean manufacturing philosophy into existing production and management processes.
  • Manufacturing Processes: Knowledge of existing product manufacturing methods, technologies and processes; ability to execute, plan, manage and monitor the entire manufacturing process.
  • Problem Solving: Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.

 

Top Candidates will also have

  • 3 - 5 years of appropriate manufacturing experience.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills are required to develop a cooperative working relationship with others inside and outside the department.
  • Thorough knowledge of manufacturing and quality concepts.
  • Experience supporting capital projects, layout improvements, working with contractors and other manufacturing related project management.
  • Experience with manufacturing support activities to include areas within Assembly, Machining, and Fabrication.
  • CQMS internal auditor certification or ISO 9001 equivalent.

 

Additional Information

  • This position will close on 10/14/2026 at 11:59 pm.
  • This position will be located onsite 5 days a week in East Peoria, IL (Building KK).
  • Relocation assistance is NOT available for this position.

  • This position may require less than 10% travel.

Summary Pay Range:

$89,210.00 - $133,810.00

Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
