2. Job Purpose

  • The QA Engineer is responsible for ensuring compliance with product, process, laboratory, and management system requirements through effective quality assurance practices.
  • This role oversees laboratory testing activities, evaluates incoming raw materials, semi-finished and finished products, manages quality systems, and drives continuous improvement initiatives.
  • The position plays a key role in maintaining compliance with Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) standards while supporting operational excellence and customer satisfaction.

3. Key Responsibilities

3.1 Quality Management Systems & Compliance

  • Develop, implement, maintain, and continuously improve the Integrated Management System in accordance with:
  • ISO 9001 (Quality Management System)
  • ISO 14001 (Environmental Management System)
  • ISO/IEC 17025 (Testing and Calibration Laboratories)
  • ISO 45001 (Occupational Health & Safety Management System)
  •  Ensure compliance with corporate Quality, Health, Safety & Environment (QHSE) policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Monitor quality performance and ensure alignment with customer, regulatory, and internal requirements.

3.2 Raw Material Qualification & Testing

  • Lead testing, evaluation, and approval of incoming raw materials to ensure compliance with technical specifications and quality standards.
  • Develop and maintain raw material inspection plans, acceptance criteria, and testing procedures.
  • Perform statistical analysis and trend monitoring of raw material quality performance.
  • Collaborate with Procurement, Production, Technical, and Supplier Quality teams to investigate and resolve raw material quality issues.
  • Support supplier qualification, supplier audits, and continuous supplier quality improvement initiatives.

3.3 Laboratory Management

  • Manage daily laboratory operations and ensure testing activities are conducted accurately, safely, and efficiently.
  • Ensure all laboratory equipment is calibrated, verified, maintained, and operated according to approved procedures and ISO/IEC 17025 requirements.
  • Maintain laboratory accreditation readiness and compliance with internal and external audit requirements.
  • Optimize laboratory testing methods, workflows, and resource utilization.

3.4. Product Testing & Quality Control

  • Analyze and evaluate test results for raw materials, work-in-progress products, and finished products.
  • Prepare technical reports and provide recommendations for quality improvement and corrective actions.
  • Establish, validate, and monitor testing methods to comply with international standards, customer specifications, and industry best practices.
  • Investigate non-conforming products and ensure appropriate containment and disposition actions.

    Continuous Improvement & Problem Solving

  • Lead Root Cause Analysis (RCA) activities using structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Develop and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate recurring quality issues.
  • Drive continuous improvement projects focused on product quality, process capability, laboratory performance, and operational efficiency.
  • Utilize quality and statistical tools such as SPC, Minitab, Pareto Analysis, Control Charts, and FMEA

    Reporting

  • Prepare and present regular quality and laboratory performance reports to management.
  • Monitor and report key quality indicators, including:
  • Incoming material quality performance
  • Product conformity rates
  • Customer complaints
  • Defect rates
  • CAPA effectiveness
  • Laboratory performance metrics
  • QHSE compliance status

6. Qualifications and Competencies

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Materials Science, Chemistry, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline

  • Technical Knowledge
    • Strong knowledge of: ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems, ISO/IEC 17025 Laboratory Management Systems, ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems, and ISO 45001 Occupational Health & Safety Management Systems, Integrated QHSE Management Systems
    • Thorough understanding of laboratory testing methodologies and material characterization techniques.
    • Proficiency in statistical analysis and quality tools such as SPC, Minitab, FMEA, CAPA, and RCA.
    • Experience with audit preparation, execution, and compliance management.

7. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Incoming raw material acceptance and supplier quality performance.
  • Product conformity and defect reduction rates.
  • Laboratory testing accuracy and turnaround time.
  • Customer complaint reduction and CAPA effectiveness.
  • Audit compliance and successful certification outcomes.
  • QHSE performance and compliance objectives.
  • Continuous improvement project implementation and cost savings
