Job Description

Joining the Transformation Management Office, the Project Specialist will apply best practices in Project Management, Data-Based Decision Making, and Continuous Improvement to contribute to project results, create and maintain detailed project documentation, ensure effective project communication, and deliver timely completion of action items.

Specific Responsibility: 

• Supports and/or manages assigned projects including contribution to customer deliverables, schedule and budget management.  Creates and maintains detailed project documentation utilizing project management best practices to deliver results.

• Contributes to and supports risk management plans as relevant.

• Demonstrates strategic thinking in connecting tactics to project and company goals
   
• Ability to interface with team members to drive progress.  Leverages understanding of innovation,  manufacturing, and supply chain workflows.   Proactively identifies project risks, dependencies, and resource constraints, develops mitigation strategies, and escalates issues as appropriate.

• Effective in communicating with highly technical resources, commercial owners, and project stakeholders at multiple levels of the organization.

• Anticipates and identifies potential roadblocks and solicits input in overcoming barriers. 

•  Monitors and communicates regularly to team members on completion status of project deliverables as well as project changes.

• Demonstrates a continuous learning mindset and draws on continuous improvement principles.  Operates with a mistake-proofing mindset, aiming for long term results that are robust over time.

• Serves as role model to team members in demonstrating urgency, responsiveness, collaboration, and clear communication.  Builds and maintains strong working relationships in order to achieve measurable results.
   
• Typical Scope: Responsibility is primarily within assigned projects.  Moderate and below complexities in interdependencies, stakeholder engagement, and change implications.

Required Minimum Qualifications: 

Education:

• B.S or equivalent in a relevant field; 
• Project Mgmt certification a plus;
• Min 5 yrs experience preferably in progressively challenging engineering and/or project mgmt roles

Skills and Experience

Experience or direct exposure to R&D processes, stage gate product development and/or product prototyping a plus.

Excellent planning, decision making, and organizational skills - Can orchestrate multiple activities at once to accomplish a goal. Detail oriented. Depth of experience and familiarity with engineering concepts and manufacturing best practices. Familiarity with key project management fundamentals such as schedule building, risk management, and budget control.

Accountability & Drive for Results - Ability to work with minimal supervision; steadfastly pushes self & others for results, bias for action. Practiced at communicating with and managing expectations for customers and external vendors.

Strong Communication- Determines escalation points and maintains alignment with stakeholders and team members. Ensuring a high clarity of communication, and tailors messages to audience. Proactively clarifies and confirms to ensure alignment. Experienced with compiling reports or presentations as needed for review with internal stakeholders or customers.

Influences and motivates team members towards accomplishment of project goals, deliverables, and timelines.

High level of critical thinking, intellectual curiosity and strategic thinking, to drive efforts and prioritization toward future profit potential.

Regularly displays a positive, can-do attitude.
