Proto Coordinator (R&D)

Job Summary

The Proto Coordinator is responsible for coordinating scheduled prototype builds in a fast-paced Research & Development (R&D) environment. The role works closely with engineers, technicians, project teams, and operations personnel to ensure prototype activities are planned, executed, and completed according to project timelines. The position tracks build progress, monitors priorities and resource availability, consolidates build status, and provides timely updates and reports to stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate scheduled prototype build activities across multiple R&D and New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between engineering, technicians, operations, supply chain, and project teams to support build execution.
  • Track prototype requests, build priorities, material readiness, and project milestones to ensure on-time delivery.
  • Monitor build progress and communicate schedule updates, delays, risks, and issues to stakeholders.
  • Prepare and maintain prototype build schedules, status reports, dashboards, and project documentation.
  • Organize and facilitate build readiness reviews, planning meetings, and post-build reviews, including documenting meeting minutes and action items.
  • Collect, consolidate, and report prototype build results, engineering feedback, and lessons learned.
  • Coordinate resolution of scheduling conflicts, material shortages, resource constraints, and other issues impacting build execution.
  • Maintain accurate records of prototype activities, build history, and project status information.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance prototype planning, tracking, and reporting processes.
  • Provide administrative and coordination support for special projects and team initiatives as assigned.

Education & Experience

  • Secondary School Education, Nitec, Higher Nitec, ITE Certificate, or equivalent qualification.
  • Typically 2-4 years of experience in manufacturing, production coordination, operations support, logistics, scheduling, project coordination, or a related field.
  • Experience in manufacturing, R&D, or prototype environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Experience in coordinating multiple tasks and working with cross-functional teams is advantageous.
