About this Project Manager, Special Projects role at Crusoe

Crusoe · Onsite · Brighton, CO - US

Crusoe is on a mission to accelerate the abundance of energy and intelligence. As the only vertically integrated AI infrastructure company built from the ground up, we own and operate each layer of the stack — from electrons to tokens — to power the world's most ambitious AI workloads. When you join Crusoe, you join a team that is building the future, faster.

We're in the midst of the greatest industrial revolution of our time. The demand for AI compute is boundless, and power is a bottleneck. We're solving that — with an energy-first approach that makes AI infrastructure better for the world and faster for the people innovating with AI.

We're looking for problem-solving, opportunity-finding teammates with a sense of urgency, who believe in the scale of our ambition and thrive on a path not fully paved — people who want to grow their careers alongside a team of experts across energy, manufacturing, data center construction, and cloud services.

If you want to do the most meaningful work of your career, help our customers and partners advance their AI strategies, and be part of a high-performing team that believes in each other, come build with us at Crusoe.

About This Role:

Join our team as the Special Projects Project Manager and take ownership of the programs that don't fit the existing production model — our medium-voltage manufacturing expansion, new capability stand-up, first-of-a-kind customer configurations, and the strategic initiatives that determine what the Power Distribution sector can build two years from now.

Medium voltage is the primary near-term focus. Expanding MV switchgear and MV PDC manufacturing capability requires coordinated work across facility layout, test capability, tooling, workforce qualification, supply chain development, and certification — all of it running in parallel with live production that cannot be disrupted.

Your work directly impacts our ability to energize compute from sustainable, renewable and/or stranded energy sources at a scale the current facility cannot yet support. This role suits a project manager who is comfortable being handed a problem with no template, no precedent inside the building, and a hard date.

We are seeking a deeply experienced professional with a proven background spanning capital projects and manufacturing operations, a strategic mindset, and the self-direction to build structure where none exists. This is a full-time position.

What You’ll Be Working On:

  • Medium Voltage Manufacturing Expansion: Own capability expansion programs including scope definition, budget, schedule, and cross-functional execution.

  • Facility and Capability Projects: Lead production area layout, material flow, test bay development, lifting and handling requirements, and utility infrastructure needs.

  • Test Capability Development: Coordinate MV test capability — equipment specification, procurement, commissioning, and technician qualification.

  • First-of-a-Kind Programs: Manage non-standard customer programs where no established production process exists, and document the process you create.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with Supply Chain to develop the MV supplier base through qualification, lead time development, and dual-sourcing of critical components.

  • Workforce Readiness: Coordinate with Operations and HR on skills gap analysis, training plans, and qualification tracking for MV assembly and test.

  • Capital Budget Management: Manage capital project scope with Finance and Facilities, including justification, tracking, and close-out. You own the accuracy of your program cost model, maintain it to the PMO reporting standard and cadence, and sign the monthly cost-to-complete position that feeds the program economics review.

  • Permit and Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ) Management: Own regulatory workstreams associated with expanded capability — listing scope, inspection agency coordination, AHJ engagement, and code applicability analysis.

  • Strategic Change & Risk Management: Build the risk register for expansion programs and drive mitigation across long-lead capital, hiring, and certification dependencies.

  • Operational Handoff: Transition completed capability into standing production ownership with documented process, training, and acceptance criteria.

  • Executive Dashboard Inputs: Complete the project-level portions of the sector executive dashboard on the published cadence — schedule position, milestone status, cost and margin position, and open risk. Your inputs are what gets reported upward, so their accuracy and timeliness are yours to own.

What You’ll Bring to the Team:

  • Industry Experience — Manufacturing Operations and Capital Projects: Experience spanning facility, capability, or capacity expansion within a manufacturing environment.

  • Project Management Experience: Minimum of 5+ years managing projects within the electrical equipment, construction, engineering and/or manufacturing industry.

  • Bachelor of Science: BS in Business, Engineering, Construction Management. Closely related fields will be considered.

  • Medium Voltage Technical Knowledge: Working knowledge of MV power distribution equipment and the manufacturing and test requirements it imposes.

  • Capital Budget Ownership: Experience managing capital budgets and long-lead capital procurement through justification, execution, and close-out.

  • Comfort with Ambiguity: Proven ability to define scope, structure, and process independently on programs with no internal precedent.

  • Team Collaboration: Strong cross-functional influence across operations, engineering, facilities, finance, and HR.

  • Schedule Development & Management: Proficient with programs such as Smartsheet, MS Project, Monday.com or Primavera P6.

  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Google Suite and Microsoft Office. Experience with manufacturing ERP systems like SAP or Visual; experience with Acumatica is preferred.

  • Safety and Compliance: This position is designated a safety-sensitive position and/or is located in a safety-sensitive facility. Drug and alcohol program participation is required.

Bonus Points:

  • Direct experience standing up medium-voltage switchgear or MV PDC manufacturing capability.

  • Familiarity with ANSI C37.20.2, C37.20.7, and MV factory test requirements (dielectric, partial discharge, functional).

  • Experience with industrialized building or modular manufacturing regulatory programs.

  • Background in both construction project delivery and manufacturing operations.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification.

Benefits:

  • Competitive compensation and equity packages

  • Restricted Stock Units

  • Paid time off, paid holidays & leave of absence programs

  • Comprehensive health, dental & vision insurance

  • Employer contributions to HSA account

  • Paid parental leave

  • Paid life insurance, short-term and long-term disability

  • Professional development & tuition reimbursement

  • Mental health & wellness support

  • Commuter benefits (parking & transit)

  • Cell phone stipend

  • 401(k) Retirement plan with company match up to 4% of salary

  • Volunteer time off

  • Global travel insurance & emergency assistance

  • Daily meals allowance

  • Additional perks & programs specific to location

Compensation Range

Compensation will be paid in the range of up to $110,000 -$120,000 + Bonus. Restricted Stock Units are included in all offers. Compensation to be determined by the applicant's knowledge, education, and abilities, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data. (#INDMFG)
