Job Description

Internship Details:                                                                                                                              Location: Bismarck,MO                                                                                                           

 Full Time

Duration: 12Months+                                                                                                                        Normal Scheduled Hours: Day Shift 7 am to 3:30 pm

Position Summary 

The Project Management Intern will support the Project Manager in the planning, coordination, execution, and commissioning of the Bismarck Granule Manufacturing Plant project. This role provides hands-on exposure to large-scale industrial construction, equipment installation, plant startup, and operational readiness activities. 

The intern will work closely with project, engineering, maintenance, operations, and contractor teams to help ensure the safe, timely, and successful completion of construction and transition to full plant operations. This is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience in project management, industrial manufacturing, commissioning, reliability, and plant operations. 

Key Responsibilities 

Project Coordination & Construction Support 

  • Assist with the day-to-day coordination and management of construction activities. 

  • Support communication and coordination among contractors, subcontractors, vendors, consultants, and project stakeholders. 

  • Track and maintain project schedules, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation. 

  • Monitor project progress, quality, cost performance, deficiencies, corrective actions, and compliance with project requirements. 

  • Attend project meetings, document action items, and assist in issue resolution and follow-up activities. 

  • Support procurement activities, forecasting, progress reporting, and project closeout documentation. 

  • Help maintain accurate project records and ensure timely distribution of information. 

Commissioning & Startup Support 

  • Assist with pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, and performance testing activities. 

  • Support commissioning schedules and milestone tracking to ensure project readiness. 

  • Coordinate commissioning activities among vendors, contractors, operations personnel, maintenance teams, and consultants. 

  • Participate in equipment inspections, functional testing, troubleshooting, and punch list management. 

  • Prepare meeting minutes, testing records, turnover packages, and commissioning reports. 

  • Support operational readiness efforts and employee training initiatives. 

Safety & Continuous Improvement 

  • Promote and support a safe, organized, and professional work environment. 

  • Adhere to all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. 

  • Participate in safety meetings, site inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives. 

  • Demonstrate a commitment to teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence.

Qualifications 

Required 

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Industrial Technology, Project Management, Manufacturing Engineering, or related field. 

  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills. 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint). 

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Willingness to learn and contribute in both office and industrial plant settings. 

  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. 

  • Receptive to coaching and constructive feedback. 

Preferred 

  • Previous internship, co-op, or coursework related to project management, construction, manufacturing, commissioning, or industrial operations. 

  • Familiarity with project scheduling software such as Microsoft Project or Primavera P6. 

  • Basic understanding of industrial equipment and manufacturing processes. 

  • Exposure to granulation systems, conveyors, dryers, screens, dust collection, or material handling equipment. 

  • Knowledge of industrial safety practices, commissioning processes, and LOTO procedures. 

  • CAPM certification or interest in project management certification programs.
