Job Title – Project Engineer
Overview of Position:
As part of our Project Engineering team, you will be the first technical point of contact for our project management team in delivering contracted services to customers. In this role, you will be responsible for directing the engineering and technical tasks required for the successful deployment of such services. The
role will require a balance of technical knowledge, clear documentation and project management skills. You will work closely with internal teams within Speedcast and customers as part of the Speedcast delivery team. This employee shall schedule, plan, forecast, resource and manage all the technical activities striving for project accuracy and quality from conception to completion.
Responsibilities:
- Serve as a technical resource to support the project manager in controlled implementation of projects
- Understand and document customer requirements relating to chosen solutions
- Team up with Sales, Sales Engineering, and System Engineering teams in implementing standard and bespoke solutions based on the gathered requirements
- Supervise the implementation work of Engineering, Field Engineering and Build &Test teams
- Provide support throughout the sales and project execution phases to ensure successful implementation and customer satisfaction, including handover to operational teams
- Produce high quality technical project documentation including system diagrams, rack elevations, test plans and test reports for delivered systems
- Collaborate with the engineering and sales teams to develop best practices, technical papers, and training materials
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Speedcast’s innovative solution offerings
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline
- At least 3 years’ experience in network design, and implementation
- Industry Certification: CCNA or equivalent industry experience
- Possess excellent time management and organization skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to work with both external and internal stakeholders
Preferred:
- Demonstrated Stakeholder Engagement and Management
- Prior experience with Project Management
- Prior experience with Field Engineering or Engineering implementation
- Experience in a customer facing role
- Experience with Visio or other drawing packages
- Understanding of digital satellite network architectures, mobility services, VSAT platforms
- Understanding of basic concepts of IP networking, VOIP and QoS
- Solid PC skills including usage of the full MS Office Suite
Training on internal processes, vendor specific software and project management systems will be provided.
