Your role and responsibilities

We are looking for EMS On-site Support Engineer in Production Testing & Support team, Product Engineering and Quality department, Drive Products in China BL.

Production Testing and Support team supports manufacturing units in production technical issue resolution, drives product manufacturability improvements and leads production ramp up/ramp down project management in ABB Beijing factory and global EMS partners. As EMS On-site Support Engineer, you would be responsible for technical problem solving and driving production quality improvement at EMS factory. The position would be based in Suzhou苏州, China.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quality Management (≥50% of Working Time)

  • Monitor and improve DPPM and testing first pass yield targets
  • Track ABB complaints close rate and drive EMS reduce recurring issues
  • Driving improvement on ABB audit findings (SQP & self-routing inspection)
  • Lead quality improvement project in systematic management methodology
  • Improve EMS supplier quality from IQC perspective; define CTQs by category with product engineer and mechanical engineer

2. Delivery Coordination

  • Coordinate EMS & ABB on complex process/testing issues for on-time delivery
  • Execute regular communication with EMS PJM to identify delivery risks and align with ABB responsible party

3. Technical Support — PCBA & Box Build

  • New variant testing configuration and test sequence/limits change
  • Support EMS on complexed ad-hoc issue problem solving; product failure overview in production
  • ECN execution support including new F/W verification

4. Project Support

  • New ICT fixture coverage review and supporting role in PCBA FCT and boxbuild testing issue resolution
  • PPAP review (SMT / Wave / Coating, etc.)



Qualifications for the role

·       Bachelor or master’s degree in Control Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Automation

·       Minimum 3 years’ engineering experience in PCBA provider or Drives industry

·       Solid knowledge of SMT, Wave Soldering, Coating, ICT/FCT, PPAP, IPC standards

·       Knowledge of Variable speed drives, Servo drive or similar industrial products, and familiar with production testing language Python, LabVIEW, etc.

·       Strong problem-solving skills (8D, 5Why, Fishbone), LSS green belt preferred

·       Should have excellent communication skills and positive attitude

·       Fluent English and writing skills are must

·       Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as needed
