About this Production Controller role at ResMed
Role Summary
The Production Controller is responsible for developing, maintaining, and monitoring production plans to ensure customer demand is fulfilled efficiently while balancing inventory levels, manufacturing capacity, and material availability.
This role works closely with Manufacturing, Supply Planning, Procurement, Logistics, Customer Service, and New Product Introduction (NPI) teams to drive schedule attainment, identify supply constraints, support inventory optimization, and ensure uninterrupted production operations.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing production schedules, resolving supply challenges, and improving overall planning performance to support business objectives and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Production Planning & Scheduling
- Develop and maintain the Master Production Schedule (MPS) based on customer demand and operational requirements.
- Review and adjust production schedules based on material availability and manufacturing capacity.
- Monitor schedule adherence and production performance.
- Ensure production plans align with customer delivery commitments.
Supply Planning & Capacity Management
- Lead the Supply Review process to identify capacity and supply constraints.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop mitigation plans for production risks.
- Monitor short-term and long-term capacity requirements.
- Support planning activities for new product introductions and product transfers.
Inventory Management
- Balance inventory levels while meeting production and customer requirements.
- Monitor inventory performance and identify opportunities for optimization.
- Work with Procurement and Supply Chain teams to minimize shortages and excess inventory.
Stakeholder Management
- Partner with Demand Planning, Manufacturing, Procurement, Logistics, and Customer Service teams to ensure alignment on production priorities.
- Communicate production risks, supply issues, and schedule changes to stakeholders.
- Manage expectations regarding delivery commitments and production constraints.
Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze planning and production performance data.
- Prepare and maintain production planning reports and KPIs.
- Drive process improvements related to planning accuracy, inventory performance, and schedule attainment.
- Support initiatives that improve operational efficiency and supply chain performance.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Manufacturing, Business, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Production Planning, Production Control, Supply Planning, Master Scheduling, or a related Supply Chain function.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing operations and production planning processes.
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Preferred
- Experience using ERP/MRP systems such as SAP, Oracle, JDE, or similar.
- Experience with Master Production Scheduling (MPS).
- Experience in capacity planning and inventory management.
- Exposure to NPI and supply review processes.
- Experience within medical device, electronics, or high-volume manufacturing environments.
- APICS/CPIM certification is an advantage.
