About this Product Manager role at WorkWhile

WorkWhile · Hybrid · San Francisco

About WorkWhile

WorkWhile is on a mission to help workers earn a better living and live better lives. More than 80 million Americans work hourly jobs, often with unpredictable schedules that pay close to minimum wage and offer limited benefits, leading to financial instability.

WorkWhile is revolutionizing frontline work by creating a more flexible and efficient labor market. Powered by AI, the WorkWhile platform helps businesses quickly access high-quality talent. Workers benefit from same-day pay, free telehealth services, upskilling, and the ability to choose shifts that match their skills and schedules.

We have the audacious goal to align incentives and solve inefficiencies in the labor market, disrupting the $650 billion staffing and recruiting market. Backed by Khosla Ventures and recognized by the Inc. 5000 for 10x growth, WorkWhile is reshaping the future of work.

About the role

We're looking for a Product Manager to join the rapidly-growing team at WorkWhile. This is a growth role by design: your specific area of ownership will depend on where the roadmap needs you most - right now, that could mean helping stand up our new worker pay card, a major company bet that turns instant pay into a full financial services program for hourly workers, or improving how workers move through onboarding and activation.

You’ll be working directly alongside our CEO, CPO, and Head of Product, Fintech and Worker Experience. As you build fluency and judgment, you'll take on a more traditional PM structure: owning a workstream end-to-end, from roadmap to execution.

Note: This role is hybrid in San Francisco, with 3 days a week in office, where we come together for in-person collaboration.

What you'll do

High-Priority Execution

Product Launch Support

  • Draft the marketing and in-app collateral that introduces workers to new product experiences - copy, launch messaging, in-app content

  • Turn complex mechanics (compliance, partner requirements, financial product rules) into clear support playbooks and SOPs

  • Track cross-functional and partner threads to closure, flagging blockers before they become delays

Funnel & Conversion

  • Funnel Diagnosis: Partner with product and data science to find where workers get stuck in onboarding, W-2 enrollment, and activation, and help translate that into a prioritized list of fixes

  • Experiment Support: Help scope, launch, and track A/B tests aimed at improving conversion, working alongside engineering and DS rather than running the build yourself

  • Reporting: Maintain the conversion dashboard and keep the team honest about what's actually moving the numbers

As You Grow: Full-Cycle PM Work

  • Lead discovery and scoping conversations with stakeholders, often without a fully defined brief

  • Define and prioritize what gets built in your area; make clear calls on what's a one-off vs. a real product gap

  • Write specs, define success metrics, and manage delivery with engineering from kickoff to ship

  • Keep cross-functional stakeholders (GTM, Support, Ops) aligned on what you're building and why

Who You Are

  • A structured thinker. You can walk into an ambiguous, jargon-heavy problem and come out the other side with a clear plan.

  • A sharp communicator. You write clearly, synthesize complexity into something an executive can act on in two minutes, and don't need someone else to translate your work.

  • Execution-obsessed. You take a piece of work and drive it to done, chasing details and following up without being asked.

  • Comfortable with data. You're not a data scientist, but you can read a funnel, spot where it breaks, and help frame a hypothesis worth testing.

  • Comfortable being new at this. You don't need a fintech or product background to succeed here - you need the horsepower to build it fast.

  • Energized by ambiguity, not stressed by it. You'll be handed real problems before they're fully scoped, and you'll figure out the shape of them as you go.

  • Empathy with Users: A passion for understanding the unique needs of frontline workers.

What we're looking for

  • 2+ years of experience in a highly analytical, customer- or data-facing role - consulting, strategy, analytics, engineering, ops, or product - with a clear trajectory toward product ownership

  • Able to work from our San Francisco office 3 days a week

  • Excellent written and verbal communication

  • Strong organizational skills and follow-through across multiple concurrent threads

  • Comfortable working directly with engineering, design, legal, and external partners

  • AI-native approach with experience automating workflows and tasks

  • Fintech, banking, or compliance experience is a plus, not a requirement

Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive base salary + equity in a high-growth, venture-backed company

  • Hybrid work culture based in SF

  • In-person company offsites

  • Medical, dental, & vision coverage

  • Flexible time off

  • 401(k) with employer match

  • WFH stipend to support your home office needs

WorkWhile has a diverse, mission-driven, and supportive culture - we look for people who want to take ownership, are energized by ambiguity, and strive to make a lasting impact. If this resonates with you, we'd love to chat!
