Job Description

 

We are seeking an experienced Business Systems Analyst to serve as the product and application owner for a suite of front-office applications, with a primary focus on business intelligence, reporting, and data visualization platforms. This role will act as the bridge between business stakeholders, development teams, and quality assurance, ensuring that business requirements are translated into high-quality product enhancements and solutions.

 

The ideal candidate will possess strong business analysis skills, have experience within the financial services industry, and a passion for delivering user-focused technology solutions. This individual will play a critical role in defining requirements, managing priorities, facilitating Agile delivery processes, and supporting the ongoing evolution of key business applications.

 

Key Responsibilities


Product Ownership & Business Analysis

  • Act as the primary business and application owner for assigned platforms and reporting solutions.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to identify opportunities for process improvement, automation, and enhanced reporting capabilities.
  • Gather, analyze, document, and prioritize business requirements and translate them into actionable development work.
  • Create detailed functional specifications, user stories, acceptance criteria, and development documentation.
  • Conduct research and analysis to evaluate new features, enhancements, and product opportunities.

 

Agile Delivery & Project Execution

  • Facilitate sprint planning, backlog grooming, estimation sessions, and release planning activities.
  • Collaborate closely with development and QA teams to ensure a clear understanding of requirements and expected user experience.
  • Manage and prioritize Jira backlogs while maintaining well-defined and structured user stories.
  • Monitor project progress, identify risks, and communicate status updates to key stakeholders.

 

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Develop test scenarios and acceptance criteria for new functionality.
  • Coordinate and execute User Acceptance Testing (UAT) activities.
  • Validate releases prior to deployment and ensure solutions meet business expectations.
  • Work closely with QA teams to investigate and resolve defects throughout the development lifecycle.

 

Stakeholder Management & Support

  • Serve as the primary liaison between business users, technology teams, and operational stakeholders.
  • Provide Level 1 support and triage for escalated production issues, partnering with technical teams to identify root causes and resolutions.
  • Communicate project updates, release information, and product enhancements to business users and leadership.
  • Facilitate workshops, demos, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

 

Documentation & Training

  • Create and maintain business process documentation, user guides, training materials, and knowledge articles.
  • Deliver training sessions and knowledge transfer activities to support user adoption and ongoing education.
  • Ensure documentation remains current and aligned with system functionality and business processes.

 

Qualifications


Required

  • 5+ years of Business Analyst, Product Analyst, or related experience within hedge funds, fund administration, asset management, or financial services.
  • Experience working with business intelligence, reporting, or data visualization platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
  • Knowledgeable SQL skills with the ability to analyze and validate data.
  • Experience managing work items and reporting through Jira.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to engage effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

 

Preferred

  • Experience supporting investment management, fund accounting, operations, or middle-office workflows.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing, ETL processes, and reporting architecture.
  • Experience working with APIs and data integrations.
  • Experience participating in enterprise application implementations and digital transformation initiatives.
