THE OPPORTUNITY

As a member of the Denim Department, you will be part of the team responsible for accelerating the maturity and expansion of Aritzia’s evolving denim business. You will support with developing and refining the initial patterns used for denim samples, leveraging hands-on patternmaking and sample construction, and partnering with Technical Development to deliver precise Technical Packages that enable smooth production. THE ROLE

1.     FIT STANDARDS

To ensure that our samples deliver a consistent and superior fit

a)      Fit Classifications – Define and apply standardized denim fit classifications that align with denim brand standards and the expectations of the Aritzia customer

b)     On-Body Standards – Define and apply Aritzia’s denim on-body standards that achieve optimal fit and comfort

c)      Tolerances – Define and apply acceptable tolerances during sample development to guarantee bulk garment accuracy with Aritzia’s fit standards

d)     Garment Measurements – Ensure each sample is delivered with consistent and precise garment measurements that deliver an accurate fit within defined standards and tolerance ranges

e)     Pattern Library– Build a best-in-class, comprehensive pattern library which is representative and in service of Aritzia’s denim collection, ensuring design efficiency and continuity

f)       Reference Style Library – Build and upkeep a reference style library to house best-in-class denim benchmarks for design and fit

g)     Fit Block Library – Build and upkeep a fit block library to house best-in-class denim base patterns

2.     CONSTRUCTION STANDARDS

To ensure that our samples are executed with best-in-class construction

a)      Technical Trim Standards – Develop and apply technical trim standards compatible with denim garment construction to ensure the consistent and optimal application of functional and non-functional trims across the assortment

b)     Materials Suitability and Techniques – Partner with Creative Design and Product Development to ensure chosen fabrics are fit-for-purpose for the proposed styles and their required construction techniques

c)      Brand Standards – Define and uphold Aritzia’s fit and construction standards across the entire denim collection, exemplifying our commitment to Everyday Luxury  

3.     TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS

To ensure fit samples align with garment specifications and the Creative Design vision

a)     Prototype Sample – Partner with Fabric and the Atelier team to create and refine prototype samples that deliver on Aritzia’s denim fit and construction standards  

b)     Non-Seasonal Development Sample – Partner with Product Development and the atelier sample sewing team to create and refine samples for core, non-seasonal denim styles that deliver on Aritzia’s denim fit and construction standards  

c)     Local Sample Development – Partner with Product Development and the atelier sample sewing team to create in-house samples by cutting and sewing the physical patterns, and making necessary alterations to ensure samples deliver on Aritzia’s denim standards

d)    Special Projects – Execute special projects as required, in partnership with the boutique services team and Visual Display
