KX Technologies, a Marmon Water company (Berkshire Hathaway), is seeking a Product Development Engineer to join our West Haven-based New Product Development (NPD) team. In this role you will support and help lead engineering projects across new product development, cost reduction, and quality improvement, all in support of our global water filtration business.

Job Summary

This position leads engineering projects of minor to moderate complexity, including new product development, line extensions, and VAVE initiatives, with project management at its core. You will manage projects from concept through production, working across cross-functional teams to deliver on time and on budget. You will apply engineering analysis and sound design practices to develop robust, manufacturable filtration products that meet performance and regulatory requirements, and support R&D, quality, and process engineering through validation and production readiness.

Job Requirements

  • Plan and execute projects of minor to moderate complexity and scope, using project management best practices.

  • Manage prototype builds, coordinate product validation with quality assurance and analytical labs, and use performance data to drive continuous improvement.

  • Support and help lead cross-functional teams through the stage-gate product development process.

  • Solve engineering problems and conduct root cause analysis using structured problem-solving tools.

  • Communicate effectively with internal (sales, marketing, quality, operations, management) and external (customers, vendors) stakeholders.

  • Support certification testing and help develop test methods of minor scope.

  • Support the product road map by building an understanding of technologies, markets, and competition.

  • Assist with project schedules, budgets, drawings, phase gates, and production handoffs while meeting customer specifications, SKUs, and bills of materials.

  • Quickly learn new technologies, processes, and systems.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Experience and Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, materials science, or a related field.

  • 1-3 years of project management experience on product development projects with cross-functional teams; preferably in water or a similar industry.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.

  • Knowledge of engineering principles, materials science, and manufacturing processes.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail.

  • Data driven, with the ability to work under tight deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and technical reporting skills.

  • Ability to learn new technology, processes, and systems quickly.

  • Working knowledge of MS Office and project management platforms such as Monday.com.

  • Familiarity with regulatory standards and certifications relevant to the industry (e.g., NSF/ANSI) is a plus.

  • CAD software experience (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is a plus but not required.

Employment Type:

Full Time, Permanent.

Salary Range:

$80,000 - $90,000
