We are looking to hire our next Process Operator here at the Plaquemine Methocel Plant.  Our current operating structure includes Operator I through Operator IV.  The Process Operator will be responsible for operating assigned equipment or areas of the plant and perform operations related activities per the work process, utilize chemical manufacturing knowledge and experience to operate and troubleshoot the plant in a safe and efficient manner, work in a team environment where individuals often set priorities and complete work activities with minimal supervision. This is a 24-hour operation and will require the ability to work 12-hour shifts during the day and at night on a rotating basis.

This position is located Plaquemine, Louisiana

Compensation:

The starting pay range for this position is $33.00-$41.56/hr. In addition, this position may also be eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation. The specific compensation offered to a candidate will be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and control Processes: Oversee the operation of machinery and equipment by monitoring various parameters such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates both in the field and on the DCS, to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshooting and Maintenance: Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance on machinery to prevent operational delays and identify process abnormalities, equipment malfunctions, and system alarms.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies, including emergency response actions, to minimize risk to personnel, environment, and equipment.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Maintain detailed logs of operations, documenting production metrics, and any deviations from standard processes. This data is crucial for quality control and operational improvements.
  • Process Optimization: Adjust control settings to optimize production efficiency, minimize downtime, and ensure compliance with operational standards.
  • Quality Control: Monitor key variables to ensure product quality and process efficiency, adjusting as needed.
  • Startup and Shutdown: Execute plant startup, shutdown, and isolation procedures safely, following standard operating procedures and emergency protocols.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, degree in Process Technology, or at least 2 years of operations experience.
  • Participate and be successful in an interview process.
  •  Strong troubleshooting and technical.
  • Must be able to prioritize daily activities and exercise time management.
  • Collaborate with other team members and departments to resolve process-related issues. Additionally, you may be responsible for training new staff in standard operating procedures and equipment use.
  • Ability to interpret complex process data, identify anomalies, and implement corrective measures.
  • Ability to multitask and monitor multiple process parameters simultaneously to prevent errors and ensure safety.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with team members, maintenance teams, technical staff, and supervision to ensure smooth operations.
  • Currently hold a valid US driver’s license.
  • Current TWIC card.
  • Have a high regard for personal safety and the safety of others.
  • Basic proficiency in computers to perform job tasks.
  • Participate and be successful in an interview process.
  • Complete and pass a drug screen, background check, physical screen, etc.

Work Environment:

  • Involves rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to maintain continuous plant operation.
  • Cover in a “ON-CALL” rotation
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Stand 50% of the time
  • Lift, push, and pull up to 55 lbs.
  • Walk for extended periods of time.
  • Work at heights, climb stairs and ladders.
  • Work in tight and closed in spaces
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment, including but not limited to a respirator.
  • Work in inclement weather
  • Work in hot, cold, loud environments

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Employees will begin working four ten-hour days for approximately one month. During this time, they will complete their new employee integration checklist. Once this is complete, they will be assigned to a shift and begin working a 12-hour rotating shift. The shift is called a 4-2-1 schedule.
