About this Principal Investigator (Dermatology or IM/FM Physician) role at Platinum Dermatology Partners - Physicians
Join a thriving dermatology practice in Chula Vista, CA with West Dermatology! We are seeking a skilled Principal Investigator to join our growing research department. The primary responsibilities involve conducting clinical study visits, maintaining compliance with protocols, and making critical medical decisions regarding participant eligibility and safety.
Responsibilities / Job Duties
- Conduct clinical study visits, perform protocol-required medical procedures, and evaluate adverse events.
- Review and follow all active clinical trial protocols, ensuring strict compliance with GCP and regulatory standards.
- Assess participant eligibility and make clinical determinations regarding subject inclusion or continuation.
- Maintain a physical on-site presence during operating hours to oversee trials and address medical or study needs.
- Review and sign off on study-related documentation, case report forms, and safety reporting.
- Interact with CRAs and sponsor representatives during site visits, audits, or protocol review meetings.
Minimum Education and Experience Qualification Requirements
Education
- Active board certification in Dermatology, Internal Medicine, or Family Practice. Dual-certification is ideal, but single certification is acceptable.
Qualifications
- Direct, hands-on clinical research experience evaluating trial subjects and executing study protocols.
- Ability to conduct trial visits, assess protocol eligibility, and oversee clinical safety.
- Ability to work on-site with a standard schedule Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.
Experience
- Minimum of 5+ years of clinical research experience as a Principal Investigator (PI).
- Proven track record of leading and overseeing multiple clinical trials.
Skills
- Ability to operate in a pure investigator capacity without direct staff management or administrative oversight over coordinators.
- Established relationships with clinical trial sponsors and CROs.
Schedule / Shift
Full-time, Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM.

The compensation package for this position includes a guaranteed first-year base salary or Personal Net Collections, whichever is greater. This structure is designed to provide income stability during the first year while also rewarding productivity. Actual earnings may vary based on individual performance, patient volume, and other factors influencing net collections. This offer is subject to the terms and conditions outlined in the final employment agreement.
