About the Role
Happen Bank is looking for a Principal Information Systems Engineer to own the strategy, architecture, and technical direction for our Windows and Mac end user computing environment. You’ll serve as the senior technical authority for device management, security, automation, and endpoint modernization, while acting as the escalation point for the most complex and high-impact issues.In this role, you’ll shape how Happen manages and secures devices at scale, modernize tooling and processes, and design automation that improves reliability and reduces repetitive work. You’ll also mentor teammates and partner with vendors and onshore/offshore resources to ensure solutions are scalable, secure, and aligned with business needs.
What You'll Do
- Serve as the top escalation point for Windows and Mac issues Helpdesk can’t resolve, diagnosing and closing out the most complex, high-visibility problems, while simultaneously solving the “why does this keep happening and how do I engineer this to not happen again”
- Administer SCCM, Intune and JAMF, building and deploying application packages and OS images to laptops and desktops across the globe
- Shape the systems and strategy behind secure, efficient, cost-effective client management, including how we evaluate, test, and roll out new Windows and Mac OS versions
- Build automation — scripting in Bash, Python, and PowerShell — to eliminate repetitive work, using AI tools to speed up scripting, testing, and troubleshooting where it genuinely helps
- Lead technical resources across projects, coordinating with teammates in the US and with vendors and onshore/offshore partners to keep delivery on track
- Review designs and solutions from junior team members for technical accuracy, and coach and mentor them as they grow
- Evaluate and certify security updates, patches, and service packs before they roll out to Mac and PC clients, balancing speed with risk
- Develop integrations with new technologies, including systems that carry real risk and visibility, and architect how new endpoints get configured and deployed
About You
- 10+ years of experience in end user computing, endpoint engineering, systems engineering, or a related technical field
- Bachelor's degree or higher, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Deep hands-on expertise with endpoint management platforms such as JAMF, Active Directory, SCCM, and Intune
- You take ownership of problems through to resolution, exercising sound technical judgment, and consistently look for ways to improve reliability, efficiency, and user experience
- Works independently with minimal oversight, prioritizing and multitasking across competing priorities without losing quality
- Brings deep, hands-on expertise with CIS/NIST standards and applies them confidently in complex, highly sensitive environments
- Spots new or unprecedented problems quickly and works through them methodically, asking the right questions before acting
- Proven ability to establish technical direction and align engineering decisions align with company objectives
- Applies sound judgment when using AI and other new tools to move faster on scripting, troubleshooting, and automation — staying alert to accuracy, data sensitivity, and compliance in a regulated environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical solutions for teammates, vendors, and end users and cross-trains others effectively
- Experience with Intune for client software deployment, inventory, antivirus, and endpoint security
- JAMF, SCCM, or Intune certification
- Experience with Okta, Entra ID, and identity access management
- Experience with Terraform, AWS EC2, or Kubernetes/EKS
Nice to Have
- Network engineering experience, including 802.1x configuration for wired and wireless connections
- Familiarity with configuration profiles and preference files (.plist)
- Experience with Citrix or Amazon Workspaces
- Experience with Bitwarden or a similar corporate credential manager
Work Location
San Francisco, Lehi
The above locations are eligible offices for this role. The locations have been determined to foster in-person collaboration with this role’s team or the related business lines. We utilize a hybrid work model, and our teams are in-office Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. In-person attendance is essential for this role’s success, and remote placement will not be considered. Happen Bank offers relocation, based on actual job level.
Time Zone Requirements
Local hours (PT, MT)
While the position will primarily work local hours, Happen Bank is headquartered in Pacific Time and our ideal candidate will be flexible working across time zones when necessary.
Travel Requirements
As needed travel to Happen Bank offices and/or other locations, as needed.
Compensation
The target base salary range for this position is 158,000-205,000. The base salary of the role will be determined by job-related knowledge, experience, education, skills, and location. Base salary is just one part of Happen Bank's Total Rewards package. You may also be eligible for long-term awards (equity) and an annual bonus (which is based on company performance, employee performance and eligible earnings).
