This role will focus on improving manufacturing flow, space utilization, equipment placement, labor efficiency, and readiness for new or modified production processes in a regulated manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, update, and maintain plant layouts, production line layouts, workstation layouts, and space utilization plans to support new equipment installations, line moves, capacity expansions, transfers, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Create and maintain process flow maps, value stream maps, material flow analyses, and future-state designs to identify bottlenecks, eliminate waste, improve flow, and optimize space, staffing, equipment utilization, and material movement.
  • Coordinate utility requirements for manufacturing equipment and production areas, including compressed air, electrical, vacuum, water, drainage, HVAC, exhaust, cleanroom infrastructure, and other site-specific facility needs.
  • Lead alongside Facilities, Maintenance, EHS, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, Automation, and Operations to ensure plans support equipment installation, qualification, validation, safety, ergonomics, and long-term maintainability.
  • Support manufacturing footprint, line relocation, equipment duplication, and capacity expansion projects by developing layout concepts, defining equipment and utility requirements, evaluating constraints, documenting alternatives, and recommending implementation plans.
  • Lead or support time studies, capacity analyses, labor studies, line balancing, takt time analysis, and workstation optimization to improve productivity, throughput, cost, and operator experience.
  • Support change control activities by providing layout drawings, process flow documentation, utility impact assessments, implementation rationale, and supporting documentation as required.
  • Ensure plant layout and process flow changes comply with applicable company procedures, safety requirements, quality system expectations, environmental requirements, and regulatory standards.
  • Lead cross-functional layout reviews and communicate project status, risks, constraints, decisions, and open actions to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of current-state and future-state layouts, equipment locations, process flows, utility requirements, and implementation status.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing principles, 5S, visual management, standard work, and continuous improvement methods to improve production flow, reduce waste, and support a more efficient manufacturing environment.
  • Support commissioning, installation, qualification, and production readiness activities for new or relocated equipment and processes.
  • Perform other related duties as required to support business needs.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field required.
  • 8+ years of experience in industrial or manufacturing engineering, including facilities planning, plant layout design, process optimization, and production support.
  • Experience developing plant and line layouts, workstation designs, material flow diagrams, and process flow maps, while supporting equipment installations, line moves, capacity expansions, manufacturing transfers, and facility modification projects.
  • Experience with CAD or facility layout software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, DraftSight, or equivalent tools.
  • Ability to independently manage multiple priorities, coordinating facility, utility, and manufacturing projects across Engineering, Operations, Facilities, Maintenance, Quality, EHS, and external vendors.
  • Experience operating within highly controlled manufacturing environments, with knowledge of equipment qualification, process validation, change control, and quality system requirements.
  • Experience applying of Lean Manufacturing tools, including 5S, value stream mapping, standard work, line balancing, waste reduction, and root cause analysis preferred.
  • Experience with project or business planning tools such as Visio, Project, PowerPoint, Excel or equivalent tools.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, process flow, facility constraints, material movement, and equipment utilization.
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate operational requirements and translate them into practical layout, utility, and process improvement solutions.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present layout options, project status, recommendations, and tradeoffs to cross-functional teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate technical documentation.
  • Hands-on presence on the manufacturing floor with the ability to observe processes, engage operators, and identify practical improvement opportunities.
  • Ability to balance safety, quality, compliance, cost, schedule, and operational efficiency when recommending solutions.

Travel and Working Conditions:

  • This is a global position, travel between 25-40% may be required to support manufacturing sites, vendors, equipment suppliers, or project implementation activities.
  • The role requires time in office, manufacturing floor, cleanroom, warehouse, utility, and equipment installation environments.
