Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Principal Flight Simulation Trainer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Palmdale, CA.

Key Roles & Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Program, Engineering, and Mission Assurance teams to develop and integrate capability updates into Operations O&S computer-based training materials in accordance with SOW requirements and company procedures.
  • Ensure all developed training materials align with company standards and specific program requirements.
  • Identify gaps and deficiencies in training content, devices, and processes, and recommend improvements to address them.
  • Develop solutions to a variety of complex problems, leveraging established precedents and applicable company policies when appropriate.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of aircraft systems, normal and emergency procedures, and flight operations concepts.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree AND 5 years of related professional/military experience in Flight Operations training/materials development, OR a Masters degree AND 3 years of related professional/military experience, OR a PhD AND 1 year related professional/military experience.
  • Active US Government Secret clearance (with a background investigation within the past 5 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
  • Ability to obtain and maintain initial Special Access Program (SAP) access via a Program Access Request (PAR). This SAP/PAR must be obtained prior to commencement of employment and must be obtained within a reasonable amount of time as determined by the company to meet its business needs
  • Experience conducting flight, simulator, or procedures training (e.g., military, commercial, or contractor training environment).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active US Government Top Secret Clearance.
  • Prior experience as an FAA certified flight instructor or military equivalent.
  • Experience designing or revising training curricula, courseware, and evaluation tools for complex technical or operational subjects.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles, Instructional Systems Design (ISD), or training systems development.
  • Experience working in a military or commercial aviation environment.
  • Experience with Computer Based Training development software such as Adobe Captivate.
  • Knowledge of project management software such as JIRA.
  • Assessing & evaluating training products and recommending / implementing improvements to Computer-based training materials.
  • Basic understanding of Instructional System Design in relation to creating Computer-based training.
  • Basic understanding of the ADDIE process as it relates to the courseware development process.

Primary Level Salary Range: $103,600.00 - $155,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
