We’re seeking a full-time Speech-Language Pathologist who shares our goal: to get all our scholars to and through college.

Who You Are:

The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) plays a critical role in supporting Harlem Gems preschool scholars’ communication and language development. This position serves both Harlem Gems centers, providing direct services, conducting observations, and offering coaching to teachers and families. The SLP will work closely with leadership, instructional staff, and families to ensure scholars at risk of or identified with speech and language delays receive high-quality, developmentally appropriate supports that promote kindergarten readiness.

What You’ll Do:

    • Conduct individualized and small-group interventions to support language development, articulation, and communication skills.
    • Document progress and maintain clear, confidential records of services provided.

  • Observation & Assessment
    • Conduct classroom observations to identify scholars who may need additional support.
    • Take detailed notes and share findings with leadership, instructional staff, and families as appropriate.
    • Collaborate with teachers to integrate strategies into daily routines.

  • Collaboration with CPSE & Families
    • Participate in CPSE meetings and contribute to the development and review of IEPs.
    • Provide families with updates on their child’s progress, offering strategies for supporting language development at home.
    • Serve as a liaison between Harlem Gems, families, and external service providers.

  • Teacher Coaching & Professional Development
    • Provide constructive feedback to teachers and staff on language-supportive practices.
    • Model effective strategies within the classroom.
    • Design and facilitate professional development sessions focused on speech, language, and communication best practices.

What You Bring:

  • Deep understanding of early childhood communication and language milestones.
  • Strong observation, documentation, and case management skills.
  • Ability to deliver engaging and effective professional development.
  • Excellent communication skills with children, families, and staff.
  • Culturally responsive practice with sensitivity to diverse communities.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to build trust across teams.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to provide coaching and feedback in a supportive, nonjudgmental manner.
  • Flexibility to work across multiple sites and adapt to the evolving needs of the program.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Monday – Friday: 7:40am – 4:00pm or 10:00am – 6:00pm (alternating)
