Job Description:
We are looking for a highly motivated and results-driven Portfolio Growth Officer to join our team. As a Portfolio Growth Officer, your primary role will be to convert inactive merchant accounts and unused credit capacity into a healthy, revenue-generating portfolio. Success requires more than contacting merchants or completing one-off drawdowns. The Officer must rebuild engagement, support genuine financing needs, encourage repeat usage, and maintain acceptable repayment quality.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Own assigned zero-utilised, dormant, suspended, underutilised and growth-potential merchants as the primary relationship manager.
- Diagnose inactivity by reviewing each merchant’s business condition, financing needs, facility usage, repayment history, restrictions and previous engagement.
- Prioritise commercially viable merchants and execute reactivation plans that drive first drawdown, repeat usage and sustainable utilisation.
- Conduct targeted field visits to verify businesses, rebuild relationships and resolve issues requiring physical intervention.
- Coordinate with Retention, Operations, Credit and Risk to resolve KYC, documentation, repayment-instrument and account-restriction blockers.
- Manage early-stage repayments, escalate delinquency under approved DPD rules and suspend utilisation activity where credit concerns exist.
- Maintain accurate portfolio records, protect merchant information and prevent token drawdowns, artificial inactivity resets and control breaches.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or HND in Business, Finance, Economics, Marketing or a related discipline.
- At least 3 years experience in relationship management, field sales, SME lending, portfolio management or financial services.
- Good understanding of merchant businesses, working-capital cycles, customer activation and repayment management.
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose customer problems, manage objections and convert opportunities into measurable commercial outcomes.
- Strong communication, negotiation, relationship-management and field-execution skills.
- Ability to use Excel, CRM systems and performance trackers accurately.
- Willingness to travel regularly and work across assigned commercial territories.
Performance will be assessed through:
- Reactivation of zero-utilised and dormant merchants.
- First and repeat drawdown conversion.
- Sustainable growth in utilised balances and collected revenue.
- Repayment quality following reactivation.
- Speed and quality of blocker resolution.
- Reduction in repeated inactivity across the assigned portfolio.
- Accuracy of records, field productivity and compliance with approved controls.
Benefits
- Private Health Insurance
- Performance Bonus
- Pension Plan
- Training & Development
Recruitment Process:
- A screening call with a member of the recruitment team for 30 minutes.
- Technical interview with the hiring manager for 30 to 60 minutes.
