As a political reporter for The West Australian you will lead our federal political coverage, keeping readers across what happens on the hill.

Based at Parliament House and reporting to the Editor, you will join an experienced and passionate team delivering insightful and to-the-minute coverage during one of the most fascinating times in Australian politics.

About the role:

• Help lead The West Australian's federal political coverage across both print and digital.

• Represent The West Australian in the halls of Parliament and chase stories relevant to a WA readership.

• Develop relationships with the politicians in Canberra elected to represent WA electorates.

About you:

• Intimate knowledge of federal politics.

• An enviable network of contacts both inside and outside of government.

• Substantial journalism experience, including reporting on politics.

• The ability to work under pressure.

• Strong written and communication skills.

• An eye for detail, a head for news and a hunger for a good yarn.
