Founded in 2013, PACS Group is one of the largest post-acute platforms in the United States. Its independent subsidiaries operate 400 post-acute care facilities with 50,000 employees across 21 states serving over 31,000 patients daily. PACS business support division, PACS Services, provides technology and administrative support services — accounting, finance, human resources, compliance, payroll, AR/AP, legal, risk management, information technology, corporate communication, and other business advice and support — to their healthcare facilities, reducing administrative burdens so their leadership and care teams can focus on the care, well-being, and quality of life of their patients and residents. PACS is one of Utah's Best Companies to work for. It has also been recognized as one of Utah's Fastest Growing Companies for multiple years.

Job Summary

PACS is seeking a Litigation Paralegal with two (2) to five (5) years of law firm experience defending skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) and residential care facilities for the elderly (RCFEs) in elder abuse and professional negligence litigation. This is a specialized role, not a general litigation paralegal position — candidates must have hands-on discovery experience in elder abuse/professional negligence defense matters to be considered. You will support the PLGL Legal team by working with and supporting Litigation Managers with case management, primarily in discovery. Main responsibilities include reviewing discovery requests, identifying documents to be produced, collecting documents, reviewing for relevance/privilege, and first review of discovery responses. You will be liaising with outside defense counsel and the facility, under guidance by the Litigation Manager. Primary venue is California. This position is remote or in-office in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Key Responsibilities

· Coordinate responses to discovery requests, including responsibility for communicating with personnel and collecting and producing responsive documentation.

· Identify, collect, and produce facility records specific to elder abuse and professional negligence claims — including care plans, MDS/RAI documentation, incident and witness statements, staffing and time records, and policies and procedures.

· Generate regularly scheduled client reports, status updates, and ad hoc reporting as required by project parameters or upon request.

· Assist in drafting responses to discovery

· Own and oversee discovery activity including scheduling, maintaining status updates, document collection and organization, prompt communication with external counsel, and partner on issues and deadlines to Litigation Manager as appropriate

· Attend meetings with external counsel and facility staff as necessary to complete objectives

· Other paralegal and administrative projects as outlined by your supervisor.

· Must be highly organized, detail-oriented and possess excellent communication skills

Requirements

· 2-5 years of experience in litigation defense with a required focus on elder abuse and professional negligence litigation against skilled nursing facilities and RCFEs (this is a required qualification, not a preference).

· Medical malpractice defense experience is a plus.

· Experience in discovery-heavy litigation essential.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations, Other

· Paralegal certificate desirable

· Working knowledge of California's Elder Abuse and Dependent Adult Civil Protection Act (Welf. & Inst. Code § 15600 et seq.) and Code Civ. Proc. § 1430(b) required.

· Familiarity with PCC and common documents requested in elder abuse lawsuits essential

Location and Pay

· Preferred location is in-office in Salt Lake City, Utah, but qualified candidates outside of that footprint will also be considered.

· The base salary for this position is based on experience and location and may be in the range of $90,000-$105,000 annually.
