About the Role

Provide effective administrative and operational support to the Journals Permissions Manager and the wider Journals Permissions team, helping ensure permissions requests are handled promptly, accurately and with a strong customer focus.

The location(s) strategy supports team structure and aligns business needs. 

Responsibilities:

  • Accountability - Deliver day‑to‑day administrative and operational support to the Journals Permissions team
  • Communicates Effectively - Provide ad hoc team support coordinating room bookings, organising conference calls, taking minutes and manage incoming post with clear, professional communication.
  • Balances Stakeholder - Monitor the shared permissions inbox and process or respond to incoming requests.
  • Product and Service Knowledge - Handle RightsLink tickets and issue licences in line with agreed processes and guidance.
  • Brand Management – Support the Permissions Executive with reporting, maintaining schedules, payment processing and invoice raising Support the Permissions Executive with reporting, maintaining schedules, payment processing and raising invoices.
  • Agile Learning - Work with rights colleagues to contribute to systems and process projects or working groups as required.
  • Negotiation Skills - Maintain accurate records and follow agreed workflows, escalating complex or sensitive matters appropriately.

Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

Essential

  • Degree calibre or equivalent experience.
  • Good standard of mathematics and English.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities accurately and reliably.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of the academic publishing business.
  • Experience of, or familiarity with, the basic principles of content licensing methods and terms.
  • Some knowledge of copyright and other relevant intellectual property law.
  • Experience of understanding and handling contracts.
  • Working knowledge of another language.
