As a People Generalist, you will be a key member of the People & Sustainability team, acting as a trusted partner to employees, managers, and global People & Sustainability colleagues. You will support a broad range of activities, including employee relations, People administration, onboarding, learning and development, process improvement, and compliance.

The role requires a proactive and service-oriented individual who enjoys building relationships, improving processes, and ensuring a high-quality employee experience. You will play an important role in evolving our People operations, promoting efficient and digital ways of working, and maintaining the highest standards of integrity, confidentiality, and compliance.

As a member of the first-line support team, you will serve as a primary point of contact for People-related inquiries and ensure that employees and managers receive timely, accurate, and practical guidance.
 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Serve as a trusted People partner and point of contact for employees and managers on People-related policies, procedures, and employee lifecycle matters.
  • Manage People administration, employee documentation, and organizational data within the HRIS.
  • Support employee relations matters, including investigations, conflict resolution, disciplinary processes, grievance matters, and performance-related discussions, with integrity and respect for the individuals involved.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and communication of People policies, guidance, processes, and initiatives.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding activities, including new hire administration, orientation programs, and introduction activities.
  • Coordinate and facilitate onboarding, training, and employee development initiatives in collaboration with relevant colleagues.
  • Maintain employee records efficiently, accurately, and with a high level of integrity and confidentiality, using digital solutions wherever possible.
  • Partner with People & Sustainability colleagues and other internal and external stakeholders to digitalize, transform, and continuously improve ways of working.
  • Support global mobility, organizational changes, and other employee lifecycle processes as required.
  • Maintain a global perspective and collaborate across functions and geographies to align practices where appropriate while ensuring compliance with applicable local requirements.
  • Develop and maintain practical guidance and internal information for People-related matters and coordinate relevant communications.
  • Stay informed about employment law developments, People trends, and good practice relevant to the countries supported.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Proven experience as a People or HR Generalist, or in a similar broad People role, preferably in an international and fast-paced environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to build trust and work effectively with employees and managers at all levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Experience handling sensitive employee relations matters and confidential employee information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management capabilities.
  • Ability to analyze People processes, identify improvement opportunities, and contribute to operational excellence.
  • A collaborative, proactive, and service-oriented approach.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Law, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Several years of relevant People or HR experience, preferably in a generalist capacity.
  • Experience supporting stakeholders across multiple countries in an international environment is preferred.
  • Experience in employee relations, People operations, and employment compliance activities in Germany

EMPLOYMENT LAW AND COMPLIANCE KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong and current knowledge of German employment law, labor regulations, and People compliance requirements, with the ability to apply this knowledge independently when performing day-to-day duties.
  • Relevant practical knowledge of People practices and employment legislation required to perform the role effectively in Germany, also knowledge and practical experience relating to employment matters in France and Belgium is highly preferred.
  • Ability to assess People policies, processes, and practices against applicable legal and regulatory requirements and involve specialist advisers when appropriate.

COMPUTER OR TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in HRIS platforms, preferably Workday or another global People system.
  • Experience working in a Microsoft 365 environment, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, and SharePoint.
  • Confidence in learning new systems and supporting the adoption of People technology and digital processes.

OTHER SKILLS / KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fluent English and German, both written and spoken.
  • French language skills are considered a strong advantage.
  • High level of integrity and commitment to confidentiality.
  • Strong relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Organized, structured, and methodical approach to work.
  • Curiosity and a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a global team.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be able to work for extended periods at a desk and use a computer.

WORK ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • Hybrid office environment based in Kassel, Germany (approx. 2-3 days/week in office)
  • Regular collaboration with colleagues across multiple countries and time zones.
  • Occasional business travel within Europe may be required (approx. 1/quarter)
