Deliver psycho-social support intervention to family caregivers of people living with serious or life-limiting illness. Drawing on personal experience as a former family caregiver, provides one-on-one emotional support, coaching, and resource navigation through a scheduled series of telephone or video sessions over several weeks. This is a remote position. Works under the direction of the principal investigator and study team, follows the intervention protocol and all human-subjects and privacy requirements, and documents each contact. Lived caregiving experience is a core qualification for this position.Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Deliver the peer navigation intervention to an assigned caseload of caregivers, following the study protocol and schedule (one-on-one sessions by phone or video over several weeks).
- Use personal caregiving experience to build rapport, provide emotional support, validate caregivers' experiences, and model coping strategies, while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Share practical information and help caregivers identify and connect with relevant services and resources.
- Document each contact accurately and on time (session notes, contact logs, fidelity measures) and enter data as required.
- Recognize signs of caregiver distress or risk and escalate to the principal investigator or study team following established procedures.
- Complete required intervention training and take part in ongoing supervision, case review, and team meetings.
- Protect participant confidentiality and follow all IRB, HIPAA, and study regulatory requirements.
- Keep the study coordinator and principal investigator updated on caseload status and scheduling, and contribute the peer perspective to refining intervention materials.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Prior experience in peer support, patient or caregiver navigation, or community health work, especially with older adults who are living with a serious illness. We especially welcome Navigators who come from the rural and urban communities our families live in.
