Remote-First with In-Person Training: This position is remote following successful completion of onboarding. New hires are required to attend two weeks of in-person training at our Carrollton, TX corporate office to ensure a smooth and successful transition into the role.

Position Summary:
The Payroll Tax Specialist is responsible for maintaining accurate tax records, preparing local, state, and federal tax returns, and ensuring compliance with tax regulations for Workforce Go! clients. Acting as a subject matter expert in payroll tax, this role requires a blend of analytical skills, compliance knowledge, and client service expertise. The Payroll Tax Specialist also conducts research, resolves complex tax-related issues, and collaborates closely with internal and external stakeholders to maintain payroll tax accuracy and client satisfaction.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Tax Account Setup & Agency Communication:
    Establish and manage tax filing accounts, acting as the main point of contact for both federal and state tax agencies. (Intermediate)
  • Payroll Tax Document Analysis & Adjustments:
    Review, validate, and adjust payroll tax documents and reports for accuracy, applying approved procedures to resolve discrepancies. (Intermediate)
  • Issue Resolution & Research:
    Investigate complex payroll tax issues, providing guidance to colleagues and clients, and explaining specialized information as required. (Advanced)
  • Reporting & Reconciliation:
    Manage weekly, monthly, and quarterly reporting, as well as end-of-year tasks including W-2/W-3 processing. Ensure timely updates in Master Tax and payroll tax processes. (Intermediate)
  • Tax Funding & Payment Accuracy:
    Oversee tax funding activities for clients, resolving reconciliation items to maintain timely and accurate payments. (Advanced)
  • Process Documentation & Improvement:
    Maintain and continuously improve payroll tax policies, procedures, and documentation to ensure adherence to compliance requirements. Proactively recommend enhancements to existing workflows. (Intermediate)
  • Team Support & Compliance Oversight:
    Act as a resource and subject matter expert for payroll tax issues, providing training and support to team members while maintaining compliance with regulations and confidentiality. (Advanced)

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Communication & Professionalism:
    Demonstrated ability to communicate complex information clearly, both written and verbal, with a focus on professionalism and client satisfaction. (Advanced)
  • Time Management & Multi-tasking:
    Skilled in managing multiple priorities effectively to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. (Intermediate)
  • Analytical & Problem-Solving Abilities:
    Strong analytical skills for evaluating information, solving intricate payroll tax issues, and offering data-driven recommendations. (Advanced)
  • Technical Proficiency:
    Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other business software, as well as industry-specific systems (e.g., Master Tax preferred). (Intermediate)
  • Team Collaboration:
    Ability to work collaboratively within a team, effectively communicating insights and solutions to support both internal stakeholders and clients. (Intermediate)

Credentials & Experience:

  • Education:
    Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Experience:
    • Payroll Tax Expertise: 1-2 years of experience in the tax field or 4+ years directly related to payroll tax in a corporate or service provider environment.
    • System Knowledge: Experience with Master Tax or similar payroll tax systems preferred.
    • Certifications: Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) preferred.

Benefits

NOTE: This position pays $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year, plus bonus potential.
