The Payroll & Benefits Officer contributes to the development of operational policies and procedures concerning the compensation, employee relations and benefit programs. This role ensures compliance with local regulations, facilitates accurate salary processing, and provides timely and efficient management of employee benefits and compensation packages.

The role reports to the Chief of People.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Preparation & Execution:

  • Oversee the preparation and processing of the company payroll in a timely and accurate manner ensuring all payroll information, including employee working hours, overtime, bonuses, deductions, and tax information, are correct and up to date.
  • Handle payroll-related queries from employees and resolve issues in a timely manner ensuring compliance with relevant labor laws and regulations.
  • Overview compensation in all countries with Obrela presence, either directly or via third parties.

Compensation & Benefits Management:

  • Design and implement comprehensive compensation and benefits programs, policies and guidelines ensuring they are competitive, cost-effective, and aligned with market standards and company objectives.
  • Develop and manage the annual salary review process, including coordinating with HR Business Partners and line managers to ensure accurate and timely completion of salary adjustments and bonus schemes.
  • Conduct regular compensation benchmarking to ensure competitive and fair salary offerings. Participate in salary surveys as needed.
  • Serve as the point of contact for employees with compensation and benefits-related inquiries providing support regarding concerns or disputes when necessary
  • Manage employee benefits programs providing advice and guidance to HR Business Partners on the implementation of benefits and interpretation of applicable policies and procedures.
  • Stay up to date on the latest trends in employee benefits and recommend improvements to existing plans.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including HR, finance, and legal, to ensure effective communication and coordination of compensation and benefits initiatives.

Compliance, Reporting & Data Management:

  • Ensure compliance with local labor laws, including tax regulations and reporting requirements.
  • Prepare and submit payroll-related tax filings and reports in a timely manner ensuring that accurate and confidential employee payroll, compensation, and benefits records are maintained.
  • Conduct analysis on payroll data and trends to ensure cost-effectiveness.
  • Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports for senior management regarding payroll, compensation, and benefits expenditures.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience of at least 5 years in payroll management, compensation, and benefits administration.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Accounting, or related field.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll software (Pylon) and HRMS technical skills as demonstrated by the ability to generate and analyze various reports using Excel and other reporting tools.
  • In-depth knowledge of labor laws and taxation related to payroll and benefits. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills combined with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in Greek and English and a demonstrated competency to interact with people at all levels of the organization.
  • The ability to work effectively as a team member in a multi-cultural environment.
  • A demonstrated willingness to engage in professional development activities in order to develop and improve new and current skills, and to adapt to the evolving needs of the organization.
