We're looking for an experienced Partner – Business Risk & Compliance to join our Insurance division and play a pivotal role in supporting and embedding effective risk management and compliance practices across the business.

 

This position leads people leaders and direct reports who partner closely with stakeholders to ensure risks are identified, monitored, and managed within appetite, while supporting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

 

What you'll be doing

  • Lead and develop a high-performing Business Risk & Compliance team.
  • Drive the ongoing implementation and embedment of RAC Insurance's Risk & Compliance Management Frameworks.
  • Partner with business leaders, risk owners to effectively manage risks, controls and compliance obligations.
  • Lead the oversight of incident management processes, including investigation, remediation, breach reporting and regulatory obligations.
  • Manage and enhance the controls assurance framework, including control design and effectiveness testing.
  • Coordinate executive and committee risk reporting, strategic risk reviews and compliance activities.
  • Support the implementation of the Financial Accountability Regime (FAR) and provide guidance to senior leaders.
  • Foster a positive risk culture through coaching, guidance and stakeholder engagement across the business.
  • Coordinating regular strategic and operational risk reviews, including collating risk profile details for business unit leaders.

 

What you'll bring

  • Significant experience leading Line 1 Risk and/or Compliance functions within financial services, insurance, consulting, or another highly regulated environment.
  • Proven people leadership capability, with experience leading and developing leaders and high-performing teams through clear accountability, coaching and performance management.
  • Strong experience applying risk management frameworks, standards and principles.
  • Sound knowledge of risk and compliance management practices and regulatory obligations.
  • Working knowledge of APRA Prudential Standards, ASIC regulatory requirements, the Insurance Contracts Act and Corporations Act.
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to influence, coach and build effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Strong report writing and communication skills, with experience preparing papers for senior executives, committees and boards.
  • A proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and practical risk management solutions.
  • Tertiary qualifications in insurance, risk management or a related discipline (desirable
