About this Overinspection Leader role at GE Aerospace

GE Aerospace · Onsite · Pomigliano D'Arco

Job Description Summary

As an Overinspection Leader, you’ll be responsible for product quality and for meeting customer requirements. You’ll plan and coordinate the function’s day-to-day activities and deal with any issues in how processes run and what results they deliver.

You’ll have a good degree of autonomy, within established policies and standards, and you’ll check how well operations are running through regular performance reviews. You can adapt procedures and working practices, as long as the final results meet the defined standards for quality, volume, timeliness and any other requirements that apply.

Job Description

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead Quality Assurance and Quality Control activities, including non-conformance management and the tracking of overinspection KPIs, to strengthen risk control and drive continuous quality improvement
  • Set the right team staffing levels and make sure production needs are covered, through resource planning and monitoring of individual and team performance
  • Build the team’s technical skills through training, coaching and on-the-job support, so that customer methods and standards are understood and applied the same way by everyone
  • Turn company policies and strategies into practical, results-oriented actions, using technical expertise, analytical thinking and management experience
  • Apply best practices in control and investigation, strengthen collaboration between Quality and the production areas, and compare current methods against industry standards, market benchmarks and customer expectations
  • Analyze complex manufacturing issues across varied technologies and interdependent production cycles. Where appropriate, develop solutions beyond established parameters, drawing on data and information from inside and outside the team
  • Coach and develop less-experienced inspectors to increase their autonomy and effectiveness
  • Coordinate the overinspection process using the TTI tools defined in the company’s Standard Work, so that inspections are consistent, traceable and of high quality
  • Promote the use of the customer’s Root Cause Analysis and Action Plan methods, and help functions agree on priorities and solutions to prevent recurrence and improve customer outcomes
  • Build improvement strategies by combining internal data with customer information to spot trends, critical issues and risk factors. Turn these insights into customer-focused quality initiatives, with clear priorities, preventive actions and effectiveness metrics, to steadily reduce and ultimately eliminate escapes and product-related customer complaints

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering or an equivalent discipline with demonstrated experience in technical roles within the aerospace industry
  • Previous experience in technical roles as Manufacturing Engineering, Special Processes or Quality Engineering
  • Strong written and spoken English, with the ability to handle technical documentation and communicate with customers and international stakeholders
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership and external stakeholders
  • Work Visa, in accordance with local regulations, is required

Desired Characteristics:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions
  • Strong ability to document, plan, promote and carry out programs
  • Proven project management skills
