Experience

• 1 year of experience in secretarial/receptionist in a hospital or doctor’s office

Preferred Qualifications

• 2 years of college

Education

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and successful completion of a course in medical terminology or equivalent experience

Certification Summary

• No professional certifications required

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Accurate word processing at 65 words per minute
• Ability to communicate effectively with public, surgeons, and staff and manage the telephone in a diplomatic and tactful manner
• Ability to work under stressful conditions

Job Responsibilities

• Coordinates communication for the operating room and special procedures.
• Schedules cases and performs tasks related to daily operations of Surgical Services.
• Reconciles daily and monthly statistics.
• Orders and stocks office and lounge supplies.
• Escorts families back to room after procedures begin.
