Job Summary:

University Health Services is hiring an experienced Nurse Practitioner to join our team in a primary care–focused role providing care to UW–Madison students in a collaborative, team-based setting. This 0.8 FTE (32 hours/week) position supports our mission to promote, protect, and improve student health and well-being.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Educates patients and their support systems on how to manage conditions and to promote the health and well-being of patients and those around them
  • Assesses, diagnoses, and treats illnesses, and manages chronic health problems
  • May provide expertise, training, and guidance to the community, peers, and/or students
  • Develops, implements, collects data, and evaluates primary health care services as directed by individual care plans
  • Develops individualized care plans based on medical assessments in accordance with medical best practices and established rules and regulations

UHS Medical Services provides high quality medical services to UW-Madison students with specialties in primary care, gynecology, sexual health, travel medicine, allergy and immunization, and physical therapy. Our clinicians also provide a wide range of preventative care in support of the UHS overarching mission of promoting students' academic and personal success through an integrated model of medical, mental health, and prevention activities and services.

Compensation:

The starting salary is $95,824.00 and is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience as a nurse practitioner

  • Experience providing clinical assessment and treatment of acute and chronic medical conditions in Family Practice, Internal Medicine, or Urgent Care settings

  • Current certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) or Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP)

  • Current Wisconsin Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility to obtain prior to start date

  • Current Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber (APNP) license or eligibility to obtain prior to start date

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS/BCLS) certification

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working with college students or young adults, with sensitivity to a diverse student population

  • Experience in evaluating and treating musculoskeletal injuries

  • Experience performing in-office procedures, (e.g., cryotherapy, incision and drainage, ingrown toenail removal, laceration repair)or willingness to learn

  • Experience providing gender-affirming care

Masters degree in Nursing

This position is also posted as a Physician Assistant role. We are considering candidates from both Nurse Practitioner and Physician Assistant disciplines; however, only one position will be filled.

Eligible candidates may participate in the following steps (dates are subject to change): Initial interviews will be held July 7–13, with final interviews scheduled for July 21–27. Start date to be determined.

This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
