JOB SUMMARY: The Texas Rangers are seeking a highly motivated and collaborative Minor League Physical Therapist to join the Performance department. The role is based in Surprise, Arizona. This position will play an integral role in the evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and return-to-play process for Minor League players while helping maintain consistent rehabilitation standards and philosophy throughout the organization. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong clinical reasoning, excellent communication skills, professionalism, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-performance environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Ensure consistent application of Texas Rangers rehabilitation standards, protocols, and philosophy throughout the Minor League system.
  • Evaluate, treat, and rehabilitate players following injury, illness, or surgery in collaboration with Athletic Trainers, Team Physicians, Strength & Conditioning Coaches, Sport Scientists, and other members of the Player Health and Performance staff.
  • Design and implement individualized, evidence-informed and baseball-specific rehabilitation programs, including appropriate return-to-play, strengthening, and position-specific progressions.
  • Assist with return-to-play decision-making by integrating clinical findings, objective testing, athlete feedback, and baseball-performance demands.
  • Collaborate with Athletic Training and Sport Science staff to establish and utilize objective measures and rehabilitation benchmarks to monitor progress and guide advancement.
  • Communicate daily injury and rehabilitation updates to the Minor League Coordinator and Minor League Director, as well as other appropriate organizational personnel.
  • Assist with post-injury care, including treatment, rehabilitation programming, appointment coordination, and communication with Athletic Trainers, Physical Therapists, physicians, and outside providers.
  • Assist with injury management and rehabilitation of Dominican Republic players as needed.
  • Contribute to the continued development and implementation of the Texas Rangers' organizational rehabilitation philosophy and standards.
  • Maintain thorough and timely documentation of injuries, illnesses, treatments, rehabilitation sessions, physician evaluations, and other required medical records.
  • Assist with game and/or workout coverage as needed, including pre/post treatments and field setup.
  • Travel as needed for physician appointments, player care, and organizational responsibilities.
  • Collaborate effectively with Player Development, Mental Skills, Nutrition, Strength & Conditioning, Sport Science, Athletic Training, and medical staff to provide comprehensive player care.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, communication, and clinical judgment in high-stress situations.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) required.
  • Current physical therapy license in Arizona or eligibility for licensure required.
  • Experience working with athletes in a sports medicine, collegiate, professional, or high-performance environment required.
  • Strong knowledge of orthopedic and sports rehabilitation principles required.
  • Experience developing and progressing individualized rehabilitation programs and return-to-play plans required.
  • Experience in professional baseball or professional sports.
  • Baseball-specific rehabilitation experience, including return-to-throwing, hitting, running, strength, and position-specific progression.
  • Experience utilizing objective performance measures and technologies such as force plates, dynamometry, motion analysis, or workload monitoring.
  • Experience collaborating with Sport Science and Strength & Conditioning departments.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills preferred.
  • Additional training or certification in sports, orthopedics, or performance-based rehabilitation.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lb
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during the baseball season required.
  • Ability and willingness to travel as needed.
