As a Mechanical Refrigeration Engineer, you will be a key player in designing and developing innovative industrial refrigeration and heat pump solutions for global clients. Working within a collaborative project team, you will contribute to sustainable, value-engineered projects that balance technical excellence with budgetary and time constraints. Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Engineer customized and standardized refrigeration systems, ensuring compliance with CE-PED requirements and customer specifications.

  • Lead mechanical engineering efforts on projects, guiding junior engineers and hired professionals where needed.

  • Collaborate with project teams including CAD, automation, and electrical engineers to deliver high-quality refrigeration designs that meet international and local regulations.

  • Conduct risk analysis and prepare detailed documentation for HAZOP and QHSE.

  • Develop Functional Design Specifications (FDS) in partnership with automation engineers and ensure correct plant operations.

  • Support Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) and Site Acceptance Tests (SAT) with commissioning engineers and site supervisors.

  • Provide technical support to internal stakeholders, including sales and service teams, as well as clients.

  • Contribute to GEA-wide standardization and innovation efforts, continuously improving refrigeration technologies.

Your Profile / Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Process Engineering or experience in refrigeration technology.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in industrial refrigeration, with knowledge of refrigeration plant safety, heat pumps, and regulatory directives.
  • Proficiency in CAD systems (Autodesk Plant P&ID) and MS Office.
  • Familiarity with international design standards and regulatory compliance.
  • Communication skills in Dutch is a plus. Understanding of English language is required.
  • Preferred: Knowledge of industrial automation, ERP systems (Microsoft Axapta), and electrical schematics. VCA certification and marine refrigeration experience are beneficial.
