About the role
Sorcerer is seeking manufacturing technicians to help expand our network. You'll be responsible for manufacturing every part of our payload and the balloons that brings then to the stratosphere.
Responsibilities
Assemble, solder, and rework flight electronics — SMD components, flex circuits, and solar panels.
Fabricate balloon envelopes: cutting, sealing, and final assembly.
Run functional and end-of-line tests on payloads.
Operate and maintain production equipment including sealing machines, film-handling rigs, and test fixtures.
Receive, inspect, kit, and stage components for production; track parts and materials in our inventory system.
Refine assembly procedures, work instructions, and test plans; flag quality issues and manufacturability problems to engineering.
Support launch and recovery operations as needed.
Requirements
2+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing, electronics assembly, quality inspection, or a similar technical environment.
Proficient in soldering and electromechanical assembly.
Strong attention to detail - part numbers, revisions, and documentation.
Ability to work independently across assembly, test, and inventory responsibilities.
Ability to stand for extended periods and regularly lift and move materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
Availability for non-standard shifts and weekends when launches and test campaigns require it.
Ability to work full-time onsite at our HQ in San Francisco, CA.
Ideal Candidates
Ability to troubleshoot electronic systems using schematics and design documentation.
Startup or small-team experience
Experience with flexible packaging; textiles; or composites.
Experience inspecting, cleaning, masking, or conformally coating PCBAs.
Experience using inventory management, ERP, or manufacturing execution systems.
