About this Manufacturing Systems Integration Contract Engineer (5+ years) role at Continuum Resource Network
We are helping an on-demand, autonomous ride-hailing company find a Manufacturing Systems Integration Contract Engineer to support manufacturing automation systems across production facilities.
In this role, you’ll work closely with manufacturing and process engineers to troubleshoot production issues, improve automation systems, and develop new manufacturing capabilities. You’ll play a hands-on role supporting plant floor operations while helping enhance the controls, SCADA, and manufacturing systems that keep production running efficiently.
The ideal candidate is a hands-on automation engineer with strong PLC experience, a passion for problem-solving, and the ability to bridge software development with real-world manufacturing operations.
As a Manufacturing Systems Integration Contract Engineer, you'll:
- Troubleshoot and resolve automation, controls, and manufacturing system issues impacting production operations.
- Review, debug, and modify PLC code to identify root causes and restore production line functionality.
- Develop and implement new PLC capabilities, station functionality, sensor integrations, and automation improvements.
- Build, maintain, and enhance Ignition SCADA applications that support manufacturing operators and supervisors.
- Configure and customize Ignition projects based on evolving production and operational requirements.
- Partner closely with manufacturing and process engineers to improve equipment performance, reliability, and efficiency.
- Support integrations between PLCs, SCADA systems, manufacturing software, and plant-floor equipment.
- Provide hands-on technical support for controls hardware, sensors, automation equipment, and production systems.
- Assist with industrial networking, system connectivity, and basic IT-related troubleshooting as needed.
- Support onsite manufacturing operations and system integration activities across Bay Area facilities.
- Travel domestically as needed to support manufacturing operations and integration activities.
Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant areas in Computer Science and/or Engineering
- Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in SCADA system usage in a manufacturing environment (requirements analysis, design definition, software development, and solutions implementation);
- 5+ years of Hands-on experience in implementing SCADA systems with in-depth experience with the Inductive Automation Ignition software platform and strong programming skills using both Vision and Perspective modules
- Strong Software programming skills using high-level programming languages such as Python, Java, etc. and capable of programming complex database queries
- Ability to understand complex manufacturing processes and systems;
- Customer-focused, positive, supportive, self-motivated, considerate personality required – must work well in a team environment
Bonus Qualifications:
- Master degree in Engineering
- Experience in an automotive manufacturing production environment
- Strong understanding of the plant floor manufacturing system architectures and industrial communication protocols
