The Manufacturing Engineer will support manufacturing operations at the Jefferson City, TN facility by developing, evaluating, and improving manufacturing processes, equipment, tooling, and production methods. This role will partner closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to troubleshoot manufacturing issues, support production needs, and implement solutions that improve safety, quality, efficiency, and throughput. The Manufacturing Engineer will also support Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives using Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies to reduce waste, improve processes, and drive sustainable operational improvements.

YOUR IMPACT

These duties are not meant to be all-inclusive and other duties may be assigned.

  • Perform engineering calculations, investigations, and technical tasks in accordance with JLG engineering standards and processes.

  • Provide hands-on engineering support to manufacturing operations, including troubleshooting production issues and identifying opportunities to improve safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.

  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes, methods, tooling, equipment, and work instructions.

  • Support prototype, pilot, new product introduction, and production builds by providing technical assistance and resolving manufacturing concerns.

  • Analyze workflow, material flow, space requirements, and equipment layouts to improve manufacturing efficiency and utilization.

  • Review and process engineering information through change notices, change proposals, Continuous Improvement requests, and other engineering documentation.

  • Support and execute Continuous Improvement initiatives focused on reducing waste, improving cycle time and throughput, and increasing overall manufacturing efficiency.

  • Partner with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and other cross-functional teams to identify root causes and implement sustainable corrective actions.

  • Participate in cost studies, project time estimates, technical proposals, and manufacturing improvement projects.

  • Review and recommend fixture, tooling, and equipment designs to support production requirements and process improvements.

  • Support implementation and standardization of manufacturing best practices, including Lean Manufacturing principles, standard work, 5S, and other CI methodologies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Engineering or related field.

  • One (1) – two (2) or more years of experience.

           

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience providing hands-on engineering support within a manufacturing or production environment.

  • Experience developing or improving manufacturing processes, tooling, fixtures, equipment, layouts, or work instructions.

  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot manufacturing issues and implement practical, sustainable solutions.

  • Experience supporting Continuous Improvement projects, Kaizen events, or other process improvement initiatives.

  • Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing principles, including 5S, Standard Work, waste elimination, root cause analysis, and Value Stream Mapping.

  • Experience identifying and implementing improvements related to safety, quality, cycle time, throughput, productivity, and manufacturing efficiency.

  • Experience using manufacturing data and performance metrics to identify opportunities and measure improvement.

  • Experience working cross-functionally with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.

  • Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt or Green Belt certification is a plus.

  • Experience within heavy equipment, automotive, or high-volume manufacturing environments.

WORKING CONDITIONS

  • This position is based in a manufacturing or production environment and may involve exposure to loud noise, dust, moving machinery, or temperature fluctuations.

  • The role may require standing for extended periods, repetitive motions, lifting items up to 50 pounds, bending, kneeling, climbing, or using tools and equipment.

  • Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn when required.

  • Visual and auditory acuity are needed for safe equipment operation and effective communication in a busy workspace.

Pay Range:

$73,200.00 - $117,800.00

The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
