Our Consulting Delivery Hub (CDH) in India is a critical part of ERM’s global consulting model enabling scalable, high-quality delivery across regions and service lines. CDH teams work in close partnership with regional consultants to support global client projects, providing specialist expertise, driving consistency, and enhancing delivery efficiency across our most important programmes.

As part of the Consulting Delivery Hub, you will collaborate with colleagues worldwide, contribute to complex sustainability projects, and play a key role in shaping the future of global consulting delivery.

Why this role matters?

As a Managing Consultant - Audit, you will support ERM’s global consulting delivery by leading audits or significant workstreams, providing specialist audit advisory, applying subject-matter expertise to complex problems and supporting business development. You will work within EHS Audit in the Consulting Delivery Hub, partnering with regional leadership, audit team leads, client management teams, junior auditors, technical communities and global delivery teams to deliver high-impact audit work, defensible conclusions and scalable audit capability. This role is critical to technical quality, audit governance, risk-based decision-making, client trust and development of junior team capability.


What your impact is?

  • Drive delivery of challenging and impactful audit engagements that help clients shape a sustainable future. 

  • Plan and lead discrete audits or significant workstreams, defining scope, audit criteria and risk-based sampling approach. 

  • Direct fieldwork and testing activities, ensuring evidence is sufficient, relevant, reliable and aligned with ERM standards. 

  • Evaluate findings, determine significance and develop factual, defensible audit conclusions and opinion inputs. 

  • Present findings, influence remediation and act as a trusted client partner on complex EHS and audit matters. 

  • Guide, mentor and train junior team members, contributing to knowledge management and audit capability development. 

What will you bring?

  • Relevant experience in audit, EHS regulatory compliance, management systems, sustainability, consulting or industry roles. 

  • Advanced risk assessment, control evaluation, audit methodology and evidence-evaluation capability. 

  • Strong report writing, presentation, executive communication and stakeholder-influence skills. 

  • Subject-matter expertise in ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 9001, and similar frameworks or closely related audit standards. 

  • Experience leading audits, workstreams or project teams and coaching / mentor others to raise technical capability. 

  • Demonstrated experience assessing EHS management systems in complex or high-hazard sectors.

  • Degree or master’s degree or PHD in environmental science, engineering, EHS, sustainability or a related discipline. 

  • 10+ years of progressive experience leading environmental, EHS and regulatory compliance consulting projects, including management of multidisciplinary teams.

Preferred qualifications, skills & competencies

  • Experience leading certification or recertification audits, management-system assessments or sustainability framework reviews. 

  • Exposure to high-hazard sectors such as mining, oil and gas, petrochemicals, pulp and paper or power generation. 

  • Desirable credentials include EMS, QMS, OSHAS or similar senior professional registration. 

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and lead discrete audits or significant workstreams, including scope, criteria and risk-based sampling approach. 

  • Guide fieldwork, evidence gathering and testing activities performed by junior team members. 

  • Evaluate evidence, identify deficiencies and determine finding significance. 

  • Draft audit conclusions and opinion inputs that are factual, defensible and clearly evidenced. 

  • Lead or support opening, issues and closing meetings, including communication of findings to management. 

  • Mentor auditors, develop training content and contribute to audit knowledge management. 

  • Support proposals, deliverable presentations, account management and identification of follow-on opportunities. 

  • Ensure workstream documentation and record-keeping meet ERM audit standards. 

  • Provide visible health and safety leadership and uphold ethics, professional skepticism and governance requirements. 

  • Leverage technical expertise to realise ERM consulting capability.

  • Lead project teams, providing line management, coaching, mentoring and skills development.

  • Identify, develop and promote talent while fostering a collaborative and inclusive culture.

  • Actively contribute to knowledge management.

  • Build and maintain long-term client relationships that drive repeat engagements and strategic partnerships; collaborate across ERM's global network to share knowledge and innovate solutions.

  • Deliver training sessions, coaching and impactful presentations for client teams and leadership groups.

  • Provide visible safety leadership across the workstream; uphold ethics and professional skepticism.

  • Guide clients through EHS risk, change and transformation; strengthen EHS culture and performance.

  • Extensive experience leading complex environmental compliance, EHS, and management system audits for multinational clients across North America (NA) and EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa), with responsibility for audit planning, execution, quality assurance, stakeholder engagement, and client advisory.

  • Professional certifications such as ISO 14001:2015 Lead Auditor, ISO 45001:2018 Lead Auditor, ISO 9001:2015 Lead Auditor, Certified Environmental Auditor (CEA), or equivalent internationally recognized audit and EHS certifications are highly preferred.
