The Opportunity
As a dedicated Manager, Real Estate, you will be responsible for leading a Mortgage Loan Origination team that delivers exceptional member experiences through an omnichannel approach. You will ensure the team remains compliant in all daily interactions and be accountable for achieving bank and enterprise goals through relationship management, member sales and retention, and operational effectiveness. You will also ensure the team adheres to established quality standards for all loan applications.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position is based out of our Phoenix, AZ office.
Relocation assistance is not available for this position.
What you'll do:
- Accountable for business results for maximum product goal attainment to meet Real Estate Mortgage performance objectives with a strong focus on sales behavior.
- Responsible for a mortgage loan originations team that adheres to quality standards such as analyzing credit reports, and income & asset documents, as well as general ways to structure a loan.
- Resolves complex issues and escalations to meet or exceed member satisfaction goals.
- Maintains strong knowledge on Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, VA and guidelines, while communicating with our members and vendors to promptly resolve complex/escalate issues.
- Executes operating procedures and proactively identifies opportunities to improve operational effectiveness such as improved customer service and enhanced internal efficiencies.
- Coordinates the resolution of complex, operational real estate mortgage related issues. Maintains current knowledge of changes in regulations, and the industry that may impact operations.
- May serve in special projects or initiatives.
- Builds and oversees a team of employees for assigned functional areas through ongoing execution of recruiting, development, retention, coaching and support, performance management, and managerial activities.
- Ensure risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, monitored, and controlled in accordance with risk and compliance policies and procedures.
What you have:
- Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of relevant education and/or experience.
- 6 years experience in Real Estate Lending within a financial services organization.
- 2 or more years of supervisory or management experience required
- Strong mortgage sales experience or relevant customer service experience within a financial services organization.
- Strong product knowledge; to include VA, Conventional and Non-Conforming Jumbo products.
- Knowledge of mortgage loan GSE's, such as Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and VA.
- Obtain and maintain NMLS license within three months of entering the role.
What sets you apart:
- 5+ years sales and/or high-volume contact center experience
- US military experience gained through military service or gained as a military spouse / domestic partner
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $69,920.00- $125,850.00

In addition to other USAA applicant screenings, individuals hired for this position must be federally registered on the National Mortgage Licensing System Registry (NMLSR) after being hired. The NMLSR will require you to provide identification information, financial services related employment history, and disclose certain criminal, civil judicial or regulatory/licensing actions that have been brought against you. It also requires that you be fingerprinted for an FBI background check.
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
