Manages the entire product life cycle for certain product(s) (e.g., hardware, software, wireless, web products, medical devices, etc.) from planning to execution to support the organization's strategy and objectives. Develops and directs marketing programs for a significant product or product category. Compiles and evaluates research on the market's product requirements and identifies enhancements to current features and functionality. Establishes marketing strategies, including product direction, advertising, packaging, pricing, expense budgets, profit plans and future product development, to manage a product or product category's life cycle. Interfaces with engineers, designers, suppliers and customers to develop product requirements and specifications. Prepares and coordinates product introductions and updates.

Job Summary

The Electronics Solutions division of Nordson delivers cutting-edge engineering and applications excellence to the world’s semiconductor, automotive electronics, printed circuit boards and precision assembly manufacturer with innovative fluid dispensing and surface treatment solutions. As part of the Growth and Strategy group for this $250M++ division, the Technical Product Manager (TPM) is responsible for the development, and performance of a product line.

The TPM oversee the product’s lifecycle, from conception (working with Market Manager and New Product Development Engineering) to discontinuation. This may include supervising Product Line Specialists who are located in the factory/manufacturing sites where the product is made. The TPM provides leadership within the organization to ensure competitiveness of assigned products and development of strategies to grow revenue profitably.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Using the NBS Next Phase Gate process in the development of new products, provide leadership in Phases 0-2 i.e. #0 Project Request; #1 Planning/Feasibility; #2 Proj Requirements where clear technical and commercial requirements are articulated and documented for NPD Engineering.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams in Sales, Operation, Marketing and NPD, to ensure successful product launches and iterations with messaging, marketing collateral, sales tools and aids for sales force.
  • Continuously analyze market trends and customer feedback to identify opportunities of growth and improvement for existing products.
  • Lead cross-functional efforts for creating competitive offerings.
  • Maintain and communicate internally the competitive landscape of our market/products
    • Build internal knowledge of the competitive landscape by supporting MEKKO updates.
    • Develop and maintain tools/processes to collect the latest competitive information and analyzing data to advise on pricing, strategies, future opportunities, etc.
    • Produces competitive analysis materials comparing product with its key competitors for features and pricing in different geographies
    • Lead quarterly competitive reviews/updates
    • Participates in development of market share assessment and price/performance positioning as needed for existing and new products
  • Monitor customer satisfaction and contribute to Operations/Sustaining Continuous Improvement projects, Quality and Cost of Poor Quality programs, etc.
  • Leads NBS Next Simplification efforts on product lines to ensure progress towards Leadership Level Performance.
  • Other duties may be assigned as required.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and mechanical or electrical engineering is a plus
  • Seven to ten years experience in product or market management role. Demonstrated ability to lead growth initiatives and provide guidance to the company about investment opportunities.
  • Possess a highly developed attention to detail with strong organizational and project management skills
  • Five years experience people management with proven track record at industrial manufacturing environment
  • Thorough and accurate, good analytical skills, problem solver, team oriented individual
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Business acumen and the ability to effectively present the organization and its products
  • Establish credibility, rapport, respect, and trust throughout the Division, be viewed as a team player, and work effectively in a dynamic, fast paced environment
  • High proficiency with Microsoft Office – Excel, PPT etc.
  • Knowledge of SAP a plus

Preferred Skills and Abilities

  • Experience in a similar role supporting capital equipment for the electronics industry.
  • Understanding of electronics manufacturing industry. Knowledge about dispensing industry is a plus.
  • Effective matrix style management capabilities.
  • Ability to multi-task and effectively manage daily tasks
  • Ability to bring positive change; detail oriented; leading by example
  • Resides in India and must be able to travel internationally
  • Fluent in English and other Asian languages
