Position: Manager of Software Engineering – Cloud Networking (Java/Golang)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and visionary Manager of Software Engineering to lead our Cloud Networking team. In this role, you will drive the development of cutting-edge cloud networking solutions on Extreme's platform, overseeing technical teams while ensuring the delivery of innovative features that meet customer needs and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage one or more teams of experienced development engineers
• Plan deliverables for product releases and drive execution
• Architect, design, develop, test, and automate features on Extreme's Cloud platform
• Conduct comprehensive reviews throughout the development and test lifecycle to ensure quality standards
• Coordinate with cross-functional stakeholders (PLM, PM, QA, peer teams) to achieve key objectives
• Foster innovation and implement new ideas during the development and testing process
• Manage meetings and conference calls to ensure smooth execution
• Conduct regular scrum meetings and facilitate team standups
• Address customer issues with flexibility and prioritization
• Drive managerial activities including hiring, 1-on-1s, performance appraisals, team motivation, and continuous learning
• Maintain a positive team culture aligned with company values

 

Required Qualifications

Education

• B.Tech or M.Tech in Computer Science or equivalent

 

Professional Experience

• Minimum 12+ years of experience in Software Development, Software Testing, and Quality Assurance within Agile Software Development Environments
• At least 2+ years of experience managing and mentoring a team of 6-8 Software Engineers

 

Technical Expertise

• Proficiency in modern SDLC pipelines involving CI/CD, Distributed Systems, Microservices, and Infrastructure-as-Code
• Experience leading teams working on Software Development and Testing products, preferably in Datacenter Networking or Cloud Native Networking
• Strong networking domain knowledge: Layer 2 switching, L3 routing protocols, BGP, VxLAN, VLAN
• Hands-on programming experience in one or more languages: Python, Java, Golang, C, or C++
• Deployment and management experience in On-Premises and Public Clouds (AWS, GCP, Azure)
• Familiarity with infrastructure deployment tools: Ansible, Helm, Terraform
• Strong knowledge of API design: RESTful API, XML APIs, SNMP
• Cloud infrastructure technologies: Kubernetes, Containers, and Golang in multi-core, multi-threading environments

 

Leadership & Operational Skills

• Experience building and managing high-performing teams through strong performance management systems
• Familiarity with Scrum Master responsibilities for Testing and Quality scrums
• Ability to conduct standups and perform risk mitigation to keep project schedules on track
• Experience in software architecture, design, implementation, and unit testing of distributed server applications
• Excellent collaboration skills with cross-functional teams
• Data-driven decision maker who holds self and team accountable for decisions and milestones

 

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience running large-scale IaaS/SaaS platforms for Enterprise or Datacenter projects
• Experience managing Software Defined Networking projects for on-premises, hybrid, and multi-cloud solutions
