About this Manager II, Software Engineering role at Toast

Within this space, we’re looking for a Software Engineering Manager to lead our Partner Connect team. In this role, you’ll guide a team delivering high-impact features that directly shape the experience of every Toast customer. You’ll be responsible not just for what the team builds, but how it builds—driving clarity, improving execution, and maintaining a high bar for quality. Your team will own the frameworks to manage integrations with Toast for all our partners and customers.You will work with the team to help build a feature rich, consistent, unified experience for anyone who wishes to connect to Toasts APIs, consume our data and integrate with restaurants. You will also play a role in evolving our architecture to support ever more complex new features and best-in-class monitoring as we scale to orders of magnitude of our current size!
You’re someone who enjoys developing engineers and building strong, collaborative teams. You connect day-to-day work to broader outcomes, helping your team understand the impact of what they’re building while identifying opportunities to deliver more effectively. You bring enough technical depth to provide clear direction and sound judgment, while still empowering engineers to take ownership.
Day to day, your work will span reviewing design documents and pull requests, facilitating cross-team discussions, partnering with product and architecture on roadmaps, and supporting your team’s growth through regular 1:1s and feedback.

About this roll*:
- Help drive the operational plan and strategic roadmap
- Lead the technical vision and execution for Toast’s partner and integration platforms, driving business impact across the customer lifecycle.
- Coach individual contributors for professional and technical development
- Collaborate with stakeholders across the organization to help your teams get stuff done
- Mentor both new and experienced engineers in both technology and leadership
- Guide teams to build systems that will scale to the next order of magnitude of growth
- Track and ensure teams are delivering impact and outcomes in their work
- Drive knowledge sharing programs across the engineering organization
- Hire and develop new team members
- Operate effectively in a fast moving environment where experimentation, iteration, and platform stability must coexist.

- Experience writing, delivering, and operating software in a SaaS environment
- Experience mentoring and developing successful teams
- A strong sense of empathy for customers and teammates
- A desire to build a diverse team that wins together and prioritizes customer success
- A process-driven approach to engineering leadership, with experience creating operating mechanisms, metrics, monitoring, and feedback loops that improve outcomes over time.
- Demonstrated success partnering with product stakeholders to drive measurable outcomes.
- Ability to translate broad strategic goals into clear technical roadmaps and execution plans.
