SUMMARY:

The Program Manager reports to the Ambulatory and RIH Directors of the Cardiovascular Institute and is primarily responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing administrative operations for the Cardiac Surgery and Structural Heart Clinic. The role coordinates resources, workflows, staffing support, quality initiatives, education logistics, and program priorities to support efficient clinic operations and a consistent patient and provider experience. This position offers a strong opportunity for management mentorship, including exposure to CVI leadership, coaching from experienced Clinical and Practice Managers, and progressive development in staff supervision, operations, budgeting, quality improvement, and leadership decision-making.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinates daily operational activities required for effective functioning of the Cardiac Surgery and Structural Heart Clinic.

  • Provides leadership in the development, validation, implementation, and evaluation of administrative standards, workflows, policies, procedures, and critical paths to support efficient program operations.

  • Acts as a liaison between the hospital, Cardiac Surgery and Structural Heart Clinic, and other areas of the Cardiovascular Institute.

  • Provides operational follow-up support to physicians, APPs, administrative teams, and CVI leadership.

  • Works with the Medical Directors and CVI leadership to develop, implement, and track relevant quality, access, operational, and satisfaction measures.

  • Collaborates as a skilled communicator, working among multiple departments simultaneously.

  • Demonstrates ability to be highly organized with foresight for prioritization and action using project management tools.

  • Ensures compliance and achievement of the Hospital-wide Quality Improvement Plan. Works with the Medical Directors to regularly update and identify appropriate operational and quality improvement metrics.

  • Manages and directs community outreach and awareness efforts. Develops and oversees outreach initiatives and continuing education logistics for health professionals.

  • Organizes multidisciplinary program meetings and promotes a team approach to operational planning, workflow improvement, case progression, and barrier resolution.

  • Communicates operational updates, timeline changes, and other pertinent program information to appropriate healthcare providers and administrative stakeholders.

  • Assists Clinical and Practice Managers with interviews of subordinate staff; provides guidance and counsel to subordinate staff; offers feedback for periodic performance evaluations; recommends personnel action as appropriate; helps managers develop standards for subordinate staff performance. Engages in management mentorship with Clinical, Practice, and CVI leaders to build skills in staff supervision, performance coaching, budget awareness, quality oversight, and cross-departmental communication.

  • Works collaboratively with staff, peers, Professional Practice Development staff, clinical leaders, and specialists to support orientation, training logistics, and ongoing educational needs for team members.

  • Collaborates with CVI Leadership for the development of capital and operational budgets with attention focused on program growth, staffing resources, equipment, and operational priorities.

  • Participates in administrative meetings regarding the structural heart program operational budget.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island by the Rhode Island Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.

Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing with current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Rhode Island.

Bachelor’s degree in nursing preferred. Demonstrated interest in leadership, quality improvement, program development, patient navigation, or care coordination preferred.

EXPERIENCE:

Three years’ of cardiovascular, critical care, procedural, ambulatory, or related nursing experience

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY:

Supervisory responsibility for up to 5 FTEs.

Pay Range:

$90,334.40-$180,689.60
